Sidious to Anakin: “Sit down! ☺️”
Sidious to his administration: “GTFO”

0:39 gotta love that change from a cordial "Sit down" to a cold and menacing "Leave us"

easily the best scene in all the prequel trilogy

I love how Palpatine pronounces "He could save others from death... But not himself"! As if he enjoyed bringing up memories of the night when he killed his master. There is also a note of mockery when he says "But not himself", which is exactly how Sidius felt for Plagueis in the last months or maybe years of their relationships.

“Not from a Jedi.” One of the best line readings in the series

This scene is phenomenal - The way Palpatine shifts the conversation and Anakin's attention away from the Jedi to the Sith with the "tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise" is nothing short of masterful.

Anakin: "Is it possible to learn this power"
Palpatine: *got him now*

fun fact: Ian mcdiarmid was battling laryngitis during this scene which made his voice sound more like Sidious.

"Even the Jedi" I love how his voice drops to a Sidious Snarl on that word.

Always loved how anakin refers to the sith and the Jedi both as “they”, “the Jedi us their powers for good, they are selfless”. Just shows he’s already on the fence between the two sides

Hayden Christensen is so beautiful in this scene, Anakin looks like is changing his nature in something evil...

- Did you ever hear, The Tragedy Of Darth Plaugueis "The Wise" ?

- No

- I thought not, it's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plaugueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians, to create, life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side, that he could even keep the ones he cared about, from dying

- He could actually, save people from death?

- The dark side of the Force, is a path way to many abilities, some consider to be, unnatural

- What happened to him?

- He became so powerful... The only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, witch eventually of course he did. Unfortunately he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep.
Ironic, he could save others from death, but not himself

- Is it possible to learn this power?

- Not from a Jedi

The acting is so damn great. You can see Palpatine replaying that day in his head at 4:33, the day he killed his master, Lord Plagueis.
It's even better when you know how he killed him. I think it was in one of the Star Wars novels.

Any normal Jedi would have asked this question at that point, "How do you know all this?"

"Good is a point of view, Anakin. The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way, including their quest for greater power." This quote really emphasizes how similar both good and bad are, and how what people consider to be good and bad (morality) depends on their - once more quoting Sheev - "point of view."

“Did you hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?”

“No, and I don’t want to.”

i enjoy that anakin isn't a complete idiot he knows that the sith only think inward and the jedi think of others. and they both know that which is why palpy switches tactics, he fosters anakins weaknesses instead debating with him about the sith and jedi. he plays off anakins distrust of the jedi and his need to save his wife, and it pays off beautifully. palpatine truly is a "master" manipulator, anakin really had no chance. it is very beautiful to see in action ian is a amazing actor and you see it here.

This is such a beautifully constructed scene. It perfectly shows the fallacies of the Jedi Order in such an easily conveyed manner.

"All who gain power are afraid to lose it. Even the Jedi. The Sith snd the Jedi are similar in almost every way. Including their quest for power."

It really highlights how hypocritical the modern Jedi Order was at the time. There was never a light or dark side, there is only the Force.

It goes on to be almost poetic in how the mighty fall: The Jedi shunned the dark side of the force, believing it to be a corruption—a sickness—that would destroy what they cared about protecting: their imperfect little utopia of a Republic, and their efforts of attempting to squash it out eventually leads to the destruction of the Republic they served and the subsequent rise of the Empire.

And in symmetry, we have Anakin. Whose obsession with trying to keep his true love out of harms way, treading dark paths over the light, led to her eventual death, and the death of what little remained of Anakin Skywalker—giving rise to the sith lord we all know and love; Darth Vader.

Say what you want about the prequels, but Revenge of the Sith is, in my opinion, a cinematic masterpiece.
