Now this is why I refuse to believe that Darth Plagueis was simply killed in his sleep and that he would've been smart enough to actually cheat death himself.

This would have made Ep 1 a trillion times better. I think it shows that Lucas didn't have Eps 1-3 that well planned out in advanced. A saber battle between Sidious and Plagueis while Maul was engaging Qui-gon and Obi Wan would have been epic.

I think it’s not only more interesting to think that there was a duel instead of Sidious killing his master in his sleep, but I also think it was what actually happened and that Sidious wanted Vader to think he was more skilled than Plagueis. Plagueis, from what I can understand of him was far too clever and powerful to overlook his apprentice.

Love the added detail of including Plagueis' preference over Niman, using Jar'Kai with both his weapon and staff in the fight. Nice touch.

This would have been a far more favorable and logical turn of events... the Rule of Two dictates the apprentice to fight the Master when both are at peak capabilities, not merely to be more clever... I approve of this adaptation, as it shows that Plagueis was still formidable, and Sidious’ victory would have been more noteworthy

Wow, this is incredibly well-done and gripping throughout. I believe the author of the Plagueis novel, James Luceno, was hoping to at least give Plagueis a lightsaber duel to close out his character, but he was mandated that Plagueis had to die in his sleep, and even then, it was in a drunken stupor. Here, it's cool to see how things could have gone if Luceno had his way. I'm confident that if he wasn't partly buzzed and taken by surprise, Plagueis could have fought him off, but even then, he still made Palpatine work for that win. A fantastic piece of animation all-around!

The fight scenes in this were incredibly well done, that double parry into a back flip off a foot on both obi wans and qui gons back was one of the coolest moves I've ever seen in anything ever!

Darth Plagueis vs Palpatine duel is totally my headcanon now. Way more satisfying than in the book and glad we get to see "post assassination attempt" Plagueis going all out. He had grown considerably more powerful over the course of 20 years and it's cool to see it.
