To be honest, basically all Western European countries have similar problems.

The main problems are being ignored here.
1. Prior to 1991 the Bundeswehr was the largest european army in NATO and the second largest in NATO overall, behind the USA, far ahead of all other NATO Partners and also in most cases better equipped than most other NATO Partners.
This changed due to the implementation of limitation clauses in the 2+4 treaty of 1991 (german reunification), wich were demanded by UK and Poland, to limit german military size to 370k Men in total (active, active reserve and conscripts). This was a cut of german military capability by about 50-60%.
Also the subsequent CFE Ttreaty (Conventional Forces in Europe) between NATO and warsaw Pact, primarily negotiated between USA and Russia, forced european militaries to cut their equipment stockpiles by 60% from 1994 onwards.

2. There is some major missmanagement done by the CDU/CSU defense ministers of the last 4 governments but this missmanagement is currently in the process of being cleaned up.

3. germany hesitates to deliver arms into conflict zones, because the german constitution forbids the delivery of weapons into conflict zones.

4. germany cant produce or stockpile large quantities of heavy weapons, due to Legislation that is connected to the 2+4 treaty and CFE Treaty

So basicly our NATO partners that now critizise germany for not having a large enoug army and not being able to take the initiative and lead europe, made sure in the past with demands for clauses in the constitution, reunification treaty etc, that germany is not capable of doing so in the first place.
Thats some next level shizophrenia

Germany needs to realize that WW2 is the past and this is now. It’s a clap or get clapped world out there.

I think it's high time for both Germany and Japan to overhaul their military. They ain't the aggressors anymore

Only a few hundred troops on peacekeeping missions? Germany had up to 5300 troops in Afghanistan. Not tens of thousands but still quite more than a few hundred

" The current stockpile of ammunition would only last days. "
Yeah if you assume that our guns actually work.

As an 80s child we learned a quote:
The purpose of the German army is to keep the enemy busy until a real army arrives.

Part of a reason a lot of NATO countries don't have much military might is that they've leaned heavily of the power of the US. Why spend more on your defense budget when the US military can come save the day? Poland has learned that it might be a good idea to have a decent self defense budget.

I'll tell you why:
- crippling bureaucracy
- general governmental incompetence, especially with the new government of Olaf Scholz
- corruption and dependence on America
- overt pacifism instead of just appearing way too powerful to be messed with
- Common disrespect towards the army

Especially incredible if you consider that their military budget is over 50 billion euros per year.

Guess who was the Defence Ministry of Germany, until few years ago, when she was promoted into a very important international role...

Same problem plagues many other European countries. For years the Danish navy sailed around with empty missile bays because they hadn't invested money in actually arming their frigates. Our airforce ran out of bombs to drop back in 2011 when we were flying over Libya.

After 80 years. Germany has the right to build their army. They should be able to defend themselves. Not to mention they have always made the best stuff. Cars, tanks, aircraft, Weinershnitzle. 😂
