How do English Bible translations work?

Love the NET’s translators notes and transparency. It gives you every opportunity to disagree with the translator’s decisions while still understanding the reasoning. Also constantly refers to alternative renderings.

ESV is DEFINITELY more literal than NRSV. And more literal that KJV and NKJV. NASB is more literal than ESV though, even though I prefer the wording of ESV more
