Engineer with 15 years experience and I don't make $69 an hour. Perhaps I should pick up a job at the port.

Anyone that has ever worked in a warehouse could do their job. They want to get paid more than plumbers and electricians make, which have to be journeymen for years, unrealistic

Just automate the damn ports. China can deal with 2-3x times the amount of containers per day. We are falling behind.

Wish I could get a 77% raise over 5 years! I'd be lucky to get 10% over 5 years.

There was a point in this country's history when unions actually served an important purpose of protecting workers from harsh, slave-like conditions for little pay. Now federal and state laws have taken that responsibility as well as the natural evolution of the job market. *Many* Unions these days cause more harm than good for all Americans. This is a good example.

So they make over 80k a year right now. Would be nice if I did. All my bills are paid now, I am not hurting but more wiggle room would be really nice. After searching google they are making just above the national average for crane operators. Ports mostly use gantry cranes. $39 per hour, middle of the country more like $30 hr. What do Democrats say " you knew what the job paid and accepted anyway" to police, military anyone conservative.
At $69 they will make over 140k. Does anyone else think this is kinda spoiled? I am all for getting paid fair for your work but this is excessive for a job with no degree. Cost of living on the east coast is due to all the bureaucracy and unions, You can't defend your own home there or own a gun unless you bribe local govt. You can't change your own light switch without a union electrician. Are you allowed to unclog your own toilet or do you have to call a Union Plumber and get a permit from the city?
Screw it let the port shut down most of the stuff is from Africa and Europe. Let's buy American. Build here, manufacture here, that's more jobs fro Americans.

77%?! that sounds unreasonable. those raises will be passed down to middle class consumers making $7-20 an hour. We are screwed either way.

I am a driver who goes into the ports in NY NJ. Now I am out of work because of the USMX and the ILA. Truckers move the ports as well. Where's my cut?

You will not even get to keep your job....there will be no wage increase. NOW WE HAVE A DEFINITE NEED TO FULLY AUTOMATE THE SEA PORTS

I say the ports should move every thing to automation, let these people go work for Walmart for $12 an hour.

What timing! The Southeast was just devastated by a deadly hurricane "Helene" and most of those people who are still alive are now without food and homes. Do you think they are in favor of giving more money to these Dock Workers?
