correction: the cable length will be fixed in their new generation (v4) of superchargers

tesla charging cables being short makes me think of the rumored caveat to apple's usb c compliance [ie. only allowing high speed data transfers on approved usb c cables]. just compliant enough to reap the benefits, but not compliant enough to actually be consumer friendly

So that means that someone will make up an extension cable and sell it.

Having to use the wrong stalls to charge is an issue

UPDATE - Clearly Tesla is getting ready for non-Tesla charging. The map shown at 3:36 is outdated - they've added an option "Supercharges open on NACS" with I think means, if you bring your own NACS adapter, you can use the charger ~ correct?

That's what Telsa should do, open up the charging Network to all EVs. however they should charge non Tesla vehicles more and they will make a profit off of it as well.

How do you know it’s a universal Tesla charger

Gently Bently... Tesla would be foolish to open all stations instantly to non-Teslas - chaos. In cities, non-Teslas can find a charge point; in the sticks... not so much. As bugs are ironed out Tesla will no doubt open things up, gradually. It makes sense - it's another revenue stream for Tesla. And as we all know, the next generation chargers now being deployed have a much longer cable.

It amazes me the inability of CCS drivers to follow instructions. Push up to remove is not that complicated. Maybe this is why CCS stations are always broken.

Can you buy that big adapter and plug it into the regular Tesla charger? That way you're not restricted to only the chargers with the adapter. I'm contemplating the I7 but am a bit hesitant about the availability of compatible chargers on the interstate highways

Interesting. But what was the app that was on your phone?

Can you update this pls... u should have started with "there are only 6 available supercharging stations which support this"...In my case (Sept 2023), the app immediately shows "CHARGE YOUR NON TESLA" in the main menu, but I have just started trying and every Tesla supercharging station that shows on the Tesla app says "8-9 KwH max"... so like WTF??? Now I wonder if this is accurate or not... another thing is if this CCS adapters are indeed available in many other stations, but the Tesla app just won't show them... Any useful info, deeply appreciated in advance.

What kind of kable is this? It is not the common CCS standard. The big problem when charging a non-Tesla at a Tesla Supercharger is not the technic or the communication. It´ s their position. Mostly there are these stupid bumpers on the ground to protect the superchargers. But for BMW e.g. the cable is to short and you don ´ t get car close enough, when it is not a V4 charger.

Cool video! I’m just curious as I have a model Y and wondering if we ever got a BMW IX can I use an adapter with a Tesla wall charger at home?

Like I've always said, Tesla is going to be making it's money from charging. Make sure there are lots of ev's out there and have them charge at your stations. Voila, easy money.
