How to use the wireless charging tray – BMW How-To

In this video BMW How-To explains that the optional equipment Telephony with Wireless Charging offers wireless charging according to the QI standard.
You can charge suitable electronical devices and if equipped, your BMW Display Key. To check if the smartphone tray in your BMW also has wireless charging capabilities, look for the indicator light and battery symbol on the tray. (May vary according to model)

I have a 2021 x5 and the chrging tray and is always mad hot

Constantly overheats my phone, especially when using android auto. Shame they don't have vent in there to cool device

My phone gets super hot on this charger (while using Apple Carplay), to the point that everything starts stuttering (even Spotify) due to termal throttling. Because of that, the wireless charger in my opinion is useless, and I wish I had option to disable it completely.

In before: when phone is charged via usb cable then there are no issues at all, even with Apple Carplay enabled.

I have a bmw x6 so it has the charging area Inside of the console between seats. Well it gets really hot in there. Why?🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

After leaving my phone on the charger for around an hour the battery had only been charged about 4%? Not sure if this is intended?

I’m scared to use a wireless charger. The phone gets so hot I feel like it may explode. I only use the wireless charger in case of extreme emergency when the phone is about to die and I need directions. BMW X7 2019 using iPhone 13 Pro.

I have the same spot but I don’t have the battery symbol or the Indicator light, so can I request this part and replace it in my car ?

This wireless charging tray is the biggest con BMW have ever come up with. The phone gets out of place so easily when you make a turn. It usually stops working after a minute 👎👎👎

I own a 2023 X3 and it seems to charge realllly slow. My son has a Kia Sol Turbo and the charger station is well placed, charges quickly and my phone doesn't heat up!?

I just got my new 2022 M340i and it shows the wireless charger tray, but it's not working. I heard that was one of the chips that was missing . is there any truth to that?
