Raleigh, NC area - paying for 400/20 though testing reveals 430+/21+. I currently have an ASUS RT-AC86U router running ASUSWRT-MERLIN firmware. Two things will greatly impact of WiFi speeds: 1) Number of obstacles between device and router (usually walls) and 2) WiFi contention; other routers using the same channel as my router. I use WiFi Explorer on my Mac to determine other nearby WiFi networks, changing my router’s channel as required. Today, if I had to buy a new router I would purchase and ASUS RT-AX86U and use same firmware.

Hi David: Thanks for the info. It’s interesting that I just ran two tests (WiFi only) with two different testing sites. Speedtest by Oookla reported 352mbps Down and Fast reported 100Mbps Down. Both sites reported almost the same for upload speeds (11mbps for Oakland, and 10mbps for Fast). Both tests were run on my iPad Pro.
