We used this video to guide us through the process of fixing our LG TV with this problem. It took time and a lot of replaying parts of the video, but in the end it worked. This meant we didn't need to buy a new TV - much appreciation from the U.S. for the money you saved us!

Now that's how to make a good repair video. Thanks for that. I found one of these shopping at "La Strada" or the roadside today. Now I feel confident I can fix it. I just need a table tennis table.

Edit:
Got the display apart and I also had a single one hanging on. I have one tip I want to add that I think might help people attempting this repair.
When you come to lifting the back plate, I found opening the fragile plastic locking clips very easy @9:38 if I slid a 2.5cm square of plastic along the groove sideways over the clips. This didn't bend the plastic clip any more than the bare minimum plus it also means you can release every clip and ensure they stay unclipped whilst separating the screen..

Very small chance of breaking one in frustration with ones that slip back in. I tried the plastic clips used on bread bags but it is too thick. But the size is about perfect.

I used a semi-rigid plastic lid supermarkets package baked goods like scones or biscuits in. I suppose a plastic milk bottle would also work fine. Just be sure to count how many you use and ensure you don't leave one inside. The clear ones are hard to see and it caused me a problem with one stuck in a clip on reassembly.

Another tip I have is to get a black (dark) marker and dab it onto the ends of the three little nubs. It makes lining them up with the LED holes much easier.

I used ordinary super glue.

TV works fine now except the smart features and apps are pretty obsolete as is the WEBOS version stuck way back at 1.4. Which I pretty much expected.

Your video helped revive a 10 year old tv that I'd shelved a year ago and gave up on. It's up and running as well as new now!! Well done sir! 20

Can confirm that I followed these instructions with a similar LG model (42LB5600-UH) and it worked fantastically. Ended up having to glue 30 out of 32 (listen to him and check all the others. Only 5 had come of initially, but the rest came off with minimal pressure when testing them). Have zero hot spots and the picture is beautiful again! Just take your time when matching the diffusers so they don’t have any wiggle and I held each in place with 3 points of pressure for 30 seconds each. Same glue. I also wore latex gloves to ensure I didn’t smudge a diffuser.

OP, thanks for this!!! It was fantastic.

I am and OLD TV, VCR, STEREO Tech. That is what I did for living for 37 years. Now I just fix for me, family, and friends. and from time to time I check You Tube. I found your channel looking on how to put these lenses - Diffusers? ALL of the ones on this tv came loose. when I turned the tv over I herd this sound of things rushing to the bottom. I'm like. What the hell was that?. Your video helped me allot. Thank you Buddy. I am Now a subscriber to your channel.

Hi Chris, just here to say thanks so much for making this video! I followed every step, and my TVs picture looks good as new! I only had one loose lens, but decided to check the others aaaannnd just about every single one of them was one light tap away from falling out, so I glued them all. You saved me from buying a new TV. Thanks again!

Love your style: calm, reasoned, clear and explaining as you go. Very good.

Thank you for this video! I've watched several that claim to show you how to repair the lenses but by the end they crack their screens. They shouldn't even have them titled as repair videos seeing as though they are junk by the time they're done. Anyone watching them and following their steps are just as likely to break their screens too🤦‍♀️

Five white spots for about a year. Finally summoned up the courage to follow your instructions. Took a couple of hours. I had a couple of extra connecters that needed detaching, but apart from that it was pretty much as you showed. No clips broken! You do have to be very careful when turning the screen over after removing the outer bezel (and when turning the screen over to put the bezel back) as the glass is loose at this point and can slip. I checked the lenses and found one other that was loose so fixed that one as well. Put it all back together and with great trepidation turned it Perfect! Thank you so much. Very proud of myself 🙂

These manufacturers can really find a way for these lenses to stay in place. They don’t because they need to keep selling TVs.

Excellent video. A few years ago I tried to replace the LED's in a TV I had and cracked the screen. It was partly my fault because I put something back together in the wrong order and "forced" the screen back on. My neighbor was throwing out a 65" TV so I thought, "what the heck I'll try fixing it." I ordered the part the LED's from Shop Jimmy, and used this method to remove the TV from the panel, and got it all disassembled, I was all ready to install the LED's and low and behold, they sent the wrong LED's, and that was after asking them to verify the part number they claimed was the right one, because the description for the part number said 60" and I sent them an email asking if that was the right part since mine was a 65"..it wasn't the right part, so i had to put the TV back together because I don't have any where to leave the TV laying down, that and I did it on my kitchen table, and I can't leave it there for a week. So I put it back together leaving out the defusing screens on the inside, and turned the TV on to check if the screen was OK, and so far looks good. TV still works it's just dark, and Shop Jimmy told me I need LED's. So since I didn't cracked the screen I guess I'll try again if I can get the right part.

Thank you mate, our LG had one white spot, now it has two, and my guess is a whole lot more are about to show. I will definitely have a go at the repair and fix. Thank you for a great Aussie DIY video... should be more of them.
