For the girlies who like to wear rings all the time. I go on Amazon and buy the fake wedding sets and wear those around the house or while doing chores. They are also good if you go on vacation or you have a job where you wash your hands a lot. I never pay more than $30 for a set and they look pretty good and are durable. I wear my real wedding rings on special occasions or when I know I won't be doing anything to damage the diamond or setting

My mom had a prong break off her engagement ring last year, and when she went to the goldsmith to have it fixed, the guy took one look at her and said "you swim with it don't you." She had no clue how he knew, so he explained that chlorine weakens the metal, etcetera etcetera, and then repaired the prongs of her yellow gold ring with white gold, which looks absolutely stunning.

Also, cleaning! Everyone you’re cleaning products can make your ring deteriorate. Take them off when you’re working with chemicals.

#6 - don't have (now ex) husband throw your ring onto the tiles because you risk having the prongs be intact BUT... your stone actually spins inside of the prongs. (I had a higher set cradle and when it hit the floor, somehow the round diamond just spun) and in my experience with anyone wearing rings to sleep? I never ever want to manually cut someones' ring off their finger! Some people just don't get that your fingers/hands swell and its not a good idea to wear your ring for 45yrs straight.

I can vouch for the laundry one! My dutch marquise moissanite got caught on the dryer and chipped one of the tips, transforming it from an edgy ring with a couple of sharp points, to something a neolithic caveman would've tied to the end of a stick to hunt dinner with! She has some amazing advice that I wish I would have heard sooner! 😂

It surprises me that people in these comments are saying “so you can’t do anything with a ring on!!” when these all sound like pretty common sense. Especially the dog walking one, that’s not just about your ring, that’s about not getting your skin pinched or caught up and ripped off. Also sleeping with it on. If your hands swells at all with temperature change or at night you’re gonna be cutting off circulation in that finger while you sleep and I don’t think anyone wants to wake up to nerve damage.

Why would you buy a ring you cannot wear. Solution buy a durable ring and do whatever you want with it. You only live so long. Enjoy it. Why save it for whom? No one else will treasure it as much as you will. Don’t spend money on anything you’re not going to use. If you’re following her advise and never wearing it, then why even waste your money buying it in the first place?

I love wearing my engagement ring and wedding band all the time. Call me materialist or whatever but I really love having them on! I’m usually very careful with them too. My engagement ring isn’t huge but can get caught on things from time to time. My wedding band is like a braided pattern but doesn’t stick out at all and never gets caught on anything. I pray neither of them break because I just can’t bare to take them off. And using a cheaper set instead makes no sense to me really. What’s the point of buying an engagement and wedding ring if you’re not going to wear them?
