I've had evangelicals argue with me that Catholics added 7 books to the Bible. I always challenge them to go look at the 4th century councils and tell me which books are part of the canon of scripture. It's the same list as the Council of Trent almost 1, 000 years later. There's plenty of research material out there without even citing Catholic sources to prove that Catholics did not add 7 books to the Bible.

Well done, Just think it was almost even worse for the Protest w/ Luther & Calvin wanting to remove New Test books as well such as James..of course, Hebrews & Revelation. The Catholic Church forming the full Canon & out of necessity being there is no index, but Church authority, & Protestants removing the Deuterocanon esp after having it in their bibles for a time, this topic should be left alone by Protestants at this point.

The Catholic Church did not add books to the Bible, Protestants first appended the deuterocanonical books during the Protestant reformation, then they dropped them from their Bible completely.

Without deuterocanonical, we would not have known the effect of hellenism on the nation of Israel and caused changes in language and writing, including those of the old testament that were rewritten into Greek.

The things you talk about speak to my spirit. As i go through RCIA and learn more about Christianity I find can't understand how anyone could follow the reformers. They're clearly heretics. It's not even a debate at this point. Any history book can show this.

The Catholic Bible was the FIRST BIBLE, assembled in the late 300's, under the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT. Martin Luther took 7 books out of the Bible, because he didn't want to believe all of the Catholic teachings, which were found in these books. He must have thought he knew better than the Holy Spirit.!!

Hence the Canon of Scripture was dogmatically declared at the Council of Trent in response to the Protestant Rebellion.
