On March 11, a B-47 bomber was flying from Hunter Air Force Base in Georgia to England when it experienced an in-flight emergency. Although the bomb, which contained a nuclear core, did not detonate with a nuclear explosion, its conventional explosives caused a significant blast upon impact.
