My great uncle was ordered as a soldier to sit in a trench while a nuke was set off at some distance then start marching toward it so that he could later be tested. The government paid for all his healthcare for the rest of his life. He received new lungs, new organs of various sorts, skin grafting and all kinds of chemo. He lived to be 85 and died choking on a biscuit.
