Sweet Chili Sauce

This Sweet Chili Sauce or sweet chili oil is a dipping sauce popular in Philippines and south east Asia is made with red chili, red bell pepper, onion, garlic, salt, sugar, vinegar, corn-starch. This homemade sweet chili sauce is without any chemical preservative and it is realy healthy and good for family. Follow our recipe to make this sweet chili sauce in your home for your family

Ingredients:
2 pieces medium red bell pepper (sliced)
2 pieces red chilies
1 piece small onion (chopped)
7 cloves of garlic
2 ½ cup water
2 teaspoons salt
¾ cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch (dissolved in 3 tablespoons water)
Directions:
Wash and prepare the red bell peppers. Remove the seeds and the pith and then chop into smaller pieces. Transfer them to a blender or food processor. Add the chopped onions, cloves of garlic and red chili peppers (remove the stalk). Add 2 cups of water and then pulse (do not overblend).
Transfer the mixture to a large pot. Add ½ cup of water and stir a bit. Season with some salt and add the sugar and vinegar. Let this boil using medium heat. Stir gently to dissolve the sugar.
While waiting for the mixture to boil, make the slurry. Simply dissolve the cornstarch in equal parts of water. Stir well and make sure there are no lumps.
Once the mixture boils, pour the slurry gradually while continuously stirring. Stir and simmer until it thickens. Turn the heat off.
Let the sauce cool for at least an hour before transferring into jars.
Prepare your fried foods and enjoy them with our homemade sweet chili sauce. Yum!
