“The Russians have lost many wars. They lost the Crimean War. They lost the war in Afghanistan…and I think the Ukrainians have been looking for ways to show that this war is winnable.”

Ukraine’s advance into Kursk has “great military significance” and shows that the war is “winnable”, says Pulitzer prize winning historian Anne Applebaum.

She’s a gem. I’ve paid attention to what she writes and says for many years, ever since going to see her speak about her book on the Russian gulag system many years ago. I read that book twice lol, which is saying a lot for a relatively dry history book. She’s a true expert on Russian and world politics.

Applebaum is a brilliant author and a terrific source of reliable information about autocrats and the possible end to democracy.

It's funny!

Dictators always think, that democracies are weaker! In fact, they are not only more stable, but as well much stronger, because power is in the hands of many. 😂😂😂😂😂

I really love to listen and read Anne. So intelligent and forward thinking. Her and her husband are such a perfect pair. Fighting for all Democracies and for our dear Ukraine. She can speak harshly of Trump, and I know her husband feels exactly as she does, it's just that in his position he cannot express his feelings at present. At least not until Trump is defeated at the polls. Thank you for the interview.

Ukraine is fighting for its own survival and Russia will definitely learn the hard way because Ukrainians are warriors and don't joke when it comes to fighting an enemy. You can also confirm this fact from your boxing champion. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦

There is always time to listen to Anne Applebaum. Not that anything said here was demonstrably new, but it comes over authentically and factually without unnecessary embellishment.

If Ukraine takes up to Sejm river then they will get a very easily defensible line. It's strange these "experts" don't see that

This lady is very clever and clearly understands the problems the free West faces.

Excellent guest, did not disagree with any of her points. Between Russia not being invulnerable to the issue of hidden/stolen wealth, we share concerns.

Time for democracy to stand up and do something to these platforms that do nothing but so distrust
