RIP Sean Connery, the original and best Bond.

I was probably 8 or 9 years old when my mom took me to see this at the theater, and even though I really liked it (what kid DIDN'T like James Bond 007 back in the 60's?), I didn't understand a lot of the dialogue. Once you get older you realize how great the banter was between Bond and Dr. No, how much contempt Bond visibly displayed here, and how thin the ice was that he was treading with each insult to Dr. No's ego. Bond was a badass right from the very first outing.

This particular dinner scene was pretty important at this point in the movie because we're finding who Dr No is, where he came from and why he has that Britsh accent despite being Chinese. He's like an invincible villain.

3:23 Bond: "I don't want you here."
Youtube subtitles: "I don't want your hair."

I Remember when I was ten years old and watching this with my father on tv when I first seen Dr. No appeared for the first time in this scene I literally had goosebumps of far and I said "Ohhh Dr. Nooo!" My father said "Yeah very threatening almost like a Fu Manchu Son and 007 has to stop him before launching those nukes!" Rest in Peace Pop great childhood memories viewing memorable clips on youtube😎🌹🎥🍷

1:20 Bond stops to look at a stolen painting Goya's 'Portrait of the Duke of Wellington'/ Stolen by a man, Kempton Bunton, in a bizarre attempt to force the BBC to stop charging the TV license fee to the elderly. It was actually returned to the gallery but at the time of this film it was still missing.

Perhaps Honey was looking forward to dinner before she was taken away. Then again, neither Bond nor Dr No actually got to eat anything either. The kitchen staff must’ve dined well that night.

No was intimidating as all hell. Absolutely zero emotion. Just pure menace with every highly articulated word. His appearance was perfect, every hair in it's place, spotless clothing. "That's a Dom Perignon '55. It would be a pity to break it." Spoken with zero emotion. He was like a robot acting like a human (and well, he was partially robot I suppose). Cold as ice through and through.

Whole new layer of appreciation for this movie… Honey is a tough and smart female lead, a bit dated compared to future Bond girls but wow… I can now read the subtle body language going on here… the part where Bond acts all gallant by demanding she be sent away because woman… I used to interpret her anger as genuine… but now I think she realized what Bond was trying to do in stealing a knife and played her part in creating a distraction. Awesome. Pitty it didn’t work. 😅
