I like the serious, man-in-charge aura with which M is presented here. Afterwards, the films make him a bit more of a codgy old crank annoyed with Bond's antics.

Bond had the ultimate frown face at the end. He almost got away with it

Hearing him say "now they're going to try orbiting a rocket around the moon" really puts into perspective how old the film is, considering it came out 6 years before the moon landing

That's a pretty epic, fucking cool scene right there.

I seriously boosted the size of that gun, the real Beretta has described in the book is a 25 calibre mouse gun. The one that bond handover looks like a Beretta 92 size.

I love how the British film industry had dozens of these fine character actors who were very affordable on Dr. No's low budget. You get people who seems like the characters they are portraying and they are guaranteed professionals.

007 just leave the Beretta.
Bond thinks to himself " Dang it, I almost made it to the door."👍

I like how Bond tries to sneak out the old Beretta but M shuts him down. I believe in the books this took place after "From Russia with Love" and Bond's gun jammed when he's was fighting Rosa Klebb- He got kicked with her shoe spike but it was only glancing and he didn't receive the full dose of poison. Although he didn't die, it was potent enough that he He did spend 6 months recuperating. In the movie version they changed all that and Tatiana shoots Klebb.

Bernard Lee was absolutely brilliant in this role.

Love the disappointed look on Bonds face when M says ”leave the beretta”, like a little kid who just had his candy stolen😂

I love how Bond tries to keep the Beretta! He's so head strong! I also like the last little touch of rebellion as he places the gun muzzle facing M... this is not a mistake Bond would make, if he did that, it was a deliberate message telling M a quiet eff-off. I'm sure M saw it and decided to ignore the gesture.

Maybe someone has already pointed this out but that scene has a history to it. The man who supplies the gun was indeed Major Boothroyd and bona fide weapons expert. He had written to Ian Fleming to complain about the Beretta appearing in the novels as he considered the firearm too weak for an operative such as 007. Fleming listened, incorporated the suggested Walther PPK into his writings and the Major was invited to make an appearance in the next film. Who knows..it's possible he had done this thing for real during his service in the British Army.

Connery is, and always will be, the greatest Bond.

"007, just leave the Beretta." Can't get much past M!

Movies like this make me realize that against my expectations, I have to a certain extend turned into my parents. The classic Connery Bond movies are just really special. I do believe Daniel Craig was excellent, and Casino Royale is top notch, but I do have a soft spot for these classics.

Connery is just perfect. His presence and physique are matched only by a few in film history. It is said that he was picked for his cat-like body movements: relaxed with a sarcastic undertone in his greeting. One can clearly see that upon his entrance to M’s office. And an eyebrow raised at 00:14. To a different degree, I do enjoy all the Bond films (provided they don’t make 007 a father and a corpse in the end) and actors, but Connery was a perfect combination of a threat and a charm.

I love the subtle back-and-forth sass and trolling M and Bond have with each other.

Everything in this scene is perfect. You can tell that Bond has real hierarchical respect for M, that M has real ambition and caring for the 00 agents, and you learn also about the organisation, and the fact that Bond doesn't appreciate working in research departements, that's why he has been placed in the 00. Love how he fears being brought back there.

All due respect - Sean Connery was the only Bond for me, since the 60s. He defined the role.
