The secretary calling on the radio owned that house in real life. One of the 'blind mice' was the dentist of one of the other actors. The 'apartment' that JB kills 'the professor' in was the suite that Mr. & Mrs. Broccoli were staying in while the film was being shot. Dr. No was shot on a very limited budget, thus the 'hey, do you wanna be in a movie?' kind of casting and locations.

In the book. Strangeway was a friend of bond during the war. And saved his life. Bond took it personal that he was killed by a bunch of thugs.

Terence Young's Bond films are the most stylish ones; he is the master director when it comes to Bond, combining savoir vivre and Hitchcockian chamber play qualities - a perfect match for Ian Fleming's fantasy crimes.

This clip here shows a serious, grown-up, suspenseful and gratifyingly true-to-the-book opening sequence to my favourite Bond film - and actually my favourite film in general.

Never commented on (including in any book on the 007 films) but the build-up to Sean's entrance is brilliant: we're introduced to so many guys- Strangways, the signals men, the courier seeking Bond at the club- before we finally see him... and his visual impact and ballsy presence immediately set him apart from all those who preceded.

Man, I just love the early Bond movies. So well-done on multiple levels.

I love this film a lot, Goldeneye is what introduced me to the franchise and this film propelled it. This has gotta be in my top 3.

My favorite scene is “that is ‘a smith and Wesson and you have had your six”

one of the best and the birth of many James Bond films, Sean Connery debuts as JB, Dr. No is a great villain and Honey Rider (Ursula Andres) debuts the iconic White swimsuit

RIP SIR SEAN CONNERY (1930-2020) and
RIP JOSEPH WISEMAN
(1918-2009)

One interesting note, as Bond arrives to Strangways house, you can see the 3 killers (blind) walking away in the background

First person to be killed in a bond film. His name was Tim Moxon. He ran a fondue restaurant and told wonderful stories.

Crab Key begins to interest me,
What else do we know about this Chinese gentleman?

Imagine actual espionage. In a James Bond film. Craziness.

2:23 - Plexiglass divisions between them? Were they prepared for CoVid as long ago as that?

Such a simple but great buildup for what's about to come when you first watch this movie.
