Old Drummer here who has always wanted to learn to play guitar. I’ve been playing guitar now for 1 month and have tried the thumb placements to increase stretch between fingers. So far my index to pinky barely reaches between 4 frets. Will this distance increase over time with practice?

Ive always used the side of my pic. Dont know why. Works for me. And what is the emblem on that headstock? Cant say ive seen that on a gibson before. Something you put on?

i keep my thumb behind the neck and my wrist down when i play Barre chords but when i play easy chords like Em, Am, C, G etc i need my thumb above the neck so i can hold the guitar in my hand while changing chords. is this a mistake?

Maybe I am deformed!! When I put the thumb on the back (which I try to do) and bend the wrist, as I bring my fingers onto the fretboard my pinky automatically moves towards my ring finger and in fact reduces my reach!!!!
