I understand where youโ€™re coming from on this but when Luminar was first launched it promised so much and we were told it would be improved over time; I acknowledge that there have been some updates however I donโ€™t agree with the way these plugins are being touted and I wonโ€™t be purchasing any. Iโ€™m going back to Affinity.

Anthony, many thanks for your insight as to what may or may not turn up in any new extensions. I do follow Jim Nix with his NEO videos which are excellent. I agree that you
cannot expect these sort of additions for free as they are major software packages. I've taken up the early bird offer as for existing NEO users it seems good value. For the first year at least and will see how things go. I think considering the situation they are working under they have made great strides foward.

I think that skylum offering extensions is how they stay in business. Their new subscription model is 50% more than Adobe that offers more powerful tools and storage I dont feel it is a value but I am not sure if that will include all their extensions.

I love using neo as a plug in and it provides some advantages as a stand alone for the canon r5 for better skintone and sharpeness than Lr. However the 3 to 5 times the length of time to export images and the inefficiency (to many clicks to change from one tool to the next) really slows the workflow when you have an event that has 1000 images plus to be edited. As you mentioned there are many tools out there that do better in certain aspects and I am fortunate to have the means and the time to learn them. I appreciate your perspective and speculations and all the videos you do.

Anthony, glad to see your plug for Jim Nix. Like I do with your videos, I never miss one of Jimโ€™s. Between the two of you, my editing skills have vastly improved over the past year thanks to you guys. Needless to say, I highly recommend Jimโ€™s tutorials for all beginners like myself. I just wished I had the artistic eye that you guys have.

I am not a professional, photos are my hobby ( amongst others) But I agree with you Anthony, it's a business and I am pretty sure they have delivered most of what they promised up front, Do I need the extensions? probably not, but it's a hundred quid, a decent dinner out, a box of nice wine, so I have done it, and look forward to expanding my photo knowledge by trying new things that will be helped with the extensions. I don't get the guys who are bitching, they spend ยฃ5k on a camera ยฃ3 on a lens for it, and complain about a few quid. As you said, we have two chooses, take it or leave it. Thanks again for another honest view.

Dear Anthony,
I not only benefit from your videos but enjoy your kind and gentlemanly demeanor. This video epitomizes your qualities.
I have the highest admiration for the people at Skylum and prefer using Luminar as a plug-in in LR and PS. Last week I purchased Luminar HDR and have had good results with using it on only one photo. In addition, I recently tried the beta version of Topaz Photo AI. While not perfect at this stage(especially in face detection), Photo AI works so efficiently that I plan to incorporate it in my workflow.
Given my present software, I shall await the disclosure of the other Neo extensions to discern if they fit my needs.
Thank you for putting the new Skylum offerings in perspective.
I wish you continued success in your endeavors.

When the war came to Ukraine, I extended my support. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people. However, Skylum is taking advantage of the community.

Affinity Photo cost less, and it already includes the feature we're expected to pay extra for with Luminar Neo.

In other news, Skylum will now sell sandwiches. The sandwich includes the bun, however, lettuce, tomato, pickles, special sauce and meat are sold separately.

We really need to talk about performance. I'm running a very fast...i7 Dell XPS 1 NEO is taking FOREVER to do edits and exports. I've been thinking of doing an uninstall and reinstall. Do you have any tips here.... please help.

From a workflow perspective, how do we best use these extensions? Start with Develop RAW, and then use Noiseless AI or Supersharp, or the other way around? It seems like the most logical way to go is to use them before, but then you can't use Develop RAW, just plain Develop. Not sure if that is an issue or not.

Thanks for your comments on Neo. If I pay for the subscription for the next year, then cancel the subscription, do you know if I lose the extensions I received during the first year? I asked Skylum this, but the answer wasn't very clear. I've been pretty happy with Topaz products for denoise and sharpen.

Im new to luminar Neo. Im having a problem when I edit my photo and export, my photos are like thunb nails, if I try to open them they are small and are blurry if i enlarge them. I think you had said something about that before but I dont remember what. would love if you could tell me what im doing wrong. Thank a lot .

I currently use Lightroom and Topaz Denoise Ai for my bird photography, but I'm hoping to break away from the adobe subscription. I already own Neo so I feel like the early bird price is low enough for me that I'm willing to try it so I can see how it compares to Topaz.

Excellent presentation and thanks for your take on where Skylum might be going with their extensions. I'll hold off subscribing as my guess is that I won't need some of them, so I'll buy the ones I want outright - not keen on renting my software!!

Hi, Anthony, really enjoy your tutorials. They have helped me immensely with my journey to understanding RAW editing. I use Luminar Neo as a stand alone product and am very interested to see what the plugins will be. Having said that, I am an amature and at this time not able to purchase something that I don't know what it is, or if I will even utilize it. It would be like purchasing a vehicle without knowing whether it is a sedan or a truck. Please keep up the great videos. Cheers.

Thanks for your opinion Athony! I really hope they work on panorama and focus stacking. That would be really great.

I wish I could see the same perpective tool as used in Darktable. So powerful! Also an improvement of the wire erasing tool, which would allow us to select what we want to be removed. Iโ€™m looking forward to playing with the focus stacking if it comes one day. I already like the HDR Mergeโ€ฆ

Rich people will purchase everything for Neo. Happy to see several "new" tools, improvments but I stay at basic version until Skylum solve the unstability issue during huge amount of pictures handling, speed up the pohoto export, also speed up the access time to already edited photos opening and working. The picture sorting function by stars, colors is still missing (or just I can't find it :) ). Nicely working in Luminar 4 but missing from Neo.

I would like to see a plugin the allows HDR (bracketed), focus stacked, panoramas

Thank you for your words.
It should be remembered that Skylum is not a charity, but, like any other company, must make a profit. My respect goes to Skylum, who, despite the war in their country, are constantly releasing updates and expansions.
