Stick a screw driver to the bearing and it will stick to the bearing if the alternator is charging. Old timer trick. That alternator is not a good choice for low speed old tractors. They usually have small drive pulleys and the rpms need to be higher. Use a Gm CS130 and get plenty of amps even at idle speeds. Nice test and simple to understand. Good stuff!

Hi, can i connect the ignition wire directly to batt + terminal without a switch or indication light?

replacing alternator connector on 99 caddy. the old connector has only 2 small 16 gauge wires the new connector has 2' 16 gauges and one 12 gauge so 3 wires. do i just tape off the 3rd large wire?? the alternator already has a large ground going striaght to the battery

That is how i always thought it worked and knowing i can pull my battery cables once the car is running told me the battery is only to start the process once the electro magnet is energized as long as it spins it will work

So i seen 15 volts output now if the battery is connected like typical car charging system is set up does the battery always demand the full output (15 volts) or is that 15 volts on standby and available? Assuming the battery is fully charged and doesnt need any of the 15 volts

And of the 15 volts or whatever is left after the battery upkeep how many watts is available?

15 volts at 60 amps is around 900 watts

So in theory each alt spun at prime speed can produce almost 1kW?

Jerus, I own a 1986 k10 chevy truck with two batteries in series and two alternators, but it does not have a tachometer on the dashboard. The alternators are similar to the one shown on this video. I would like to add a tachometer and get the signal from the alternator. Could you, please, tell me from which point should I get the signal? My alternators are k64, model 12SI, rating at 78 Amps. Thank you.
