I remember 20 years ago. I recall some of the places where I used to train called it, "the nice guy" mentality. It would discourage plenty of people from further training but you gotta get over it. Eventually you develop friends after you knock each other out and go out for beers afterwards, which was counter productive during training. 😆😂🤣

was guilty of the second one, one time bro dodged in slowmo and i missed deliberately and bro smiled and said "im right here dude"

Lmaooo the second one is too true. Every now and then coach will put me with one of the newer guys for drilling and they’ll purposely jab off the side of my head instead of testing to hit my face. I hated it bc I started forming a bad habit of slipping the size of two gloves. Bc I was moving away from where he was aiming, but he wasn’t aiming for my face so it throws you off

I remember a few months ago, this tall guy walks into the gym. Early 20s and skinny but with well defined muscle. But he was very full of himself. He was a nice dude but it was his first day and he wanted to spar. He was really confident about it. Our gym has a sort of unspoken rule where when the new guy wants to spar before actually learning we hand him over to our best guy and the guy doesn’t fuck him up but he kinda shows that they need more time before getting into the sparring. So they get in the ring and within 90 seconds he his in the corner, curled up, with one leg up to protect his body. He wasn’t getting hit too hard cuz we’re not trying to be mean but he just couldn’t get out. He didn’t know how to move properly to escape. After that he learned his lesson and now he trains routinely. Like I said he’s a good dude and how that he’s gotten the basics he’s a pretty good boxer.

Losing composure is a normal reaction, not a mistake. It takes time learning to keep your composure during the heat of things, that'd be like saying everything a newbie does in the gym a mistake.

do how ppl are afraid to hit their partner. My partners was the same way, so one time I stopped guarding just to show him he wasn't hitting me. So I punched him square in the nose n said "This is boxing, try n punch me i need to train as well." And so he did

My first day sparing, the coaches were giving me advice through the training and I ended up doing pretty well against the other guy whose been there for a year. Im also a lot bigger than him. I felt so bad, I started ignoring the coaches and let him hit me a few times.

Crossing legs latterally isn't so bad when you practice ballet and gymnastics balancing.

In fact it can help you get leverage from some crazy angles.
