presents episode 1595 | DR BEN BIKMAN w/ InsulinIQ.com

The longer insulin levels are down, the more the body
BURNS MORE FAT THAN IT NEEDS...burning body fat
Example:
Liver: if insulin low for a while, it burns fat for fuel
-typically a cell burns fuel for the ATP that it needs to
meet the demand on its work…
-when in prolonged low insulin state, it
just keeps burning fat, making ketones!

So, if you have fasted for 16 hours, and still do not have
ketones, then you are still in metabolic inflexibility state…
Insulin Inhibits Ketogenesis
If fasted 16 hours, and DO register ketones, you are in
metabolic flexible state: have shifted to fat burning!
"You have good insulin sensitivity”

Last part of this lesson: Why is IR so common worldwide?
-current medical practice has contributed to the problem
-hear 'insulin'? think: ‘diabetes’
-IR is NOT elevated glucose!!! it is elevated INSULIN
-since it has been higher, it is becoming less effective
-and, excess insulin causes problems, as well
Both excess insulin & impotent insulin
make up Insulin Resistance

Clinician, seeing your symptoms
-High BP; glucose; waist; TG; low HDL…
Checks your blood glucose [or even A1c] and says,
'you are okay to go’
IF they would Expand The Perspective and include Insulin:
Could shave off 20 years of this ongoing cycle!!
You could get relief much earlier,
live a much healthier life

If they would only Measure Insulin!!

Love Ben Bikman, Stephen Phinney MD, Paul Mason MD, and Ted Naiman MD for providing a medical education that surpasses that usually obtained in medical school. Thanks DTT. Cheers. :)

In nature protein does not come served with carbohydrates. It always comes served with fat. . . . Wolves don't carbo-load before they chase caribou for ten hours, 👍👍👍

Is there a way, a formula, to determine how long a person needs to be in a level of nutritional ketosis to clear their liver of excess fat? I know there are a number of factors. However, for those with NAFLD it would be nice to have an approximate amount of time.

I have been in either nutritional or therapeutic ketosis for the better part of 2 months now. I measured with both urine strips and blood tests daily. While I have lost 20 lbs, it's the liver fat I am most concerned with.
