Every word you said is gold and true. Open marriage is basically admitting you made a wrong choice of a spouse but you don't want to take that accountability, but to pretend it's ok if you end the commitment yet not relationship itself so that you keep lying to yourself it wasn't a wrong choice afterall. Your "Betrayal as a lifestyle" is best description.
