i had my cordless makita do that. I know better but i was in a rush to cut shims fro the last door of the day. THANK GOD i had my depth set, blade only took a 16th out of my finger.

Yeah... i've never even considered ripping a board like this...
I would just screw down half of it.
2 screws. Takes 20 seconds. No clamps in the way. Hands are safe.

I watched my grandpa cut off two of his fingers doing this when i was a Ironically i operate a saw for work every day and im real carful.

When I'm in the field and have to do this i clamp the board down to a work table and use my track saw.

The better thing to say is, “don’t be cheep, get a jobsite table saw for ripping 2x4s

Well, that's a cut that should only be done on a table saw

Put a shim behind the cut and be a man. I do this all the time with no problems.
