‼️Circular Saw Kickback‼️What is it? Why does it happen? Read Description (3 dots in upper corner)

Has this ever happened to you? Knowing and being aware of circular saw kickback is important for a beginner DIYer.
Kickback is when, instead of the saw going forwards, the saw goes backwards.
Here’s why it happened:
I had a piece of particle board underneath the plywood to support the plywood I was cutting. It’s good practice to put support under the plywood or your board when using sawhorses. But that wasn’t the problem.
The problem was the depth of my saw blade. I’ll explain why.
Before this cut, I had just cut two pieces of plywood together (well clamped, etc. - it was safe). I had my saw depth set to about 1.25”.
I forgot to readjust the saw blade depth before this cut, in which I was cutting a SINGLE 0.5” sheet of plywood. So my saw blade depth was just shy of 1.25”, and the depth of the plywood and particle board underneath was 1.25.
I nearly cut through both the plywood AND particle board (my support piece), which caused the particle board to buckle.
The buckling of the plywood and particle board together caused the kickback. Had the saw blade not been as deep and the cut had been shallower, this wouldn’t have happened.
So, for your takeaway:
1) Check your saw depth
2) Make sure your wood piece is well supported
3) Read up on your circular saw safety.
