Masonry Screws, often called "Tapcons" after the brand that popularized them, are a frequently used fastener for anchoring all kinds of fixtures and equipment to concrete and masonry materials.

In this video, Bob demonstrates how masonry screws are installed in concrete and what tools you'll need to get the job done.

Bonus Tips:
- The pilot hole needs to be deep enough to sit the entire screw length.
- It is also recommended to drill slightly further than the screw length to allow room for dust and debris from the drilling.
- If you need to remove a masonry screw, it should not be reinstalled into the same hole. Each time a screw is reinserted it will tap new threads into the concrete, brick or block, causing the overall integrity of the hold to weaken.
- Drive Masonry Screws at Low to Medium speeds for best results.

Seems like a little more instruction could've gone into this. I don't totally 'get the picture'

Hi, do you really need a hammer drill going into the concrete? Will a regular Milwaukee drill work? Thank you

I am using 3/16 screws and drilled a 5/32 pilot hole. As soon as I started to screw down, the screw snapped off. Any ideas?

This is the first time I have ever heard someone pronounce the word "masonry" like "masonary." And it's on a video *about* masonry screws. Go figure.

It's masonry not masonary. Only one a in masonry.
