Used them for years there an excellent fix to concrete. For real tight hold use an 8mm washer.

Just put 50 inch TV on brick wall using these type of screw really impressive with a good strong hold

When they first came out (in UK) we knew them as thunder bolts. They're great ! The American name, Tapcon, is more appropriate though, as they actually tap a thread into the concrete. You can see the fluting on the side, which is similar to a thread tap for steel . So wind them in, without pressure, and they will cut their way in. Blow the hole clean first too, as then the flutes won't get clogged with the extra material.

Just make sure you keep that mains lead away from the chuck and drill - get the cable behind your foot/leg.

Ive just been trying to figure out how to do the frame for my deck..its straight onto breeze blocks. Im so bloody useless when it comes to rawl plugs, I can never get them right.
