I birthed three children vaginally, a Singleton and twins, and although I was on my back laboring for both, I did not tear with either. Talking to your doctor about perennial support is super helpful and definitely helped me not to tear. I didn’t do massages or anything, the key for me was waiting for my urges to push and following my body’s instincts. The doctors couldn’t BELEIVE I didn’t tear with the twins, bc they were 6.5 and 7.5lbs, big for twins. I’m due with baby #4 in a few weeks— good luck mamas!

I had two babies and didn’t had any tears with each of them. Hypnobirthing and waiting for “breathing mind control” during contractions is key! I suffer from panic attacks, anxiety and I am a petite person. If I did it mama you can too 💙

I don’t feel like this is being completely fair or honest if you’ve truly experienced it. I’ve had a 3rd degree tear and pregnant with second. Now although I’m expecting baby number 2 in 6 weeks, I still believe that the experience with having a 3rd degree tear is monumental! So saying that tearing “isn’t that bad”, because women go on to have other children isn’t quite fair. The recovery for extreme tears is very hard and can be long. I wasn’t able to sit up right, use the bathroom comfortably, bend over, squat, drive, or walk much for several weeks from the pain, pressure and stitches. So yes I am doing everything I can to prepare my perineum to reduce those chances of going through that nightmare again. It’s very traumatic. If you haven’t been through it, it’s hard to comfort those with those fears because the trauma afterwards with severe tears is very real. The goal is to tear as minimally as possible, if at all.

Reading a lot of these comments has compelled me to remind all you beautiful goddesses that your body is made flawlessly for birthing. Trust yourself, listen to your animal instincts, you know more about what’s going on with your body and what you need to do than anyone else, including doctors. Don’t push when you’re body isn’t telling you to just because the doctor said so, don’t allow them to mutilate you and cut you open just because “you’ll tear any way” (and they want to get it it over with), don’t lie on your back just because they expect you to (and want you to because it makes it more convenient for them to unnecessarily intervene). Unless you are experiencing a medical emergency, there is no reason for your birth to be treated as such while a doctor sits between your legs looking for something unnecessary to do. Birth can be so empowering and beautiful if you let it. I know for many it requires reprogramming your brain and recognizing that those negative and often false traumatic stereotypes depicted in movies, the ones that other women who internalized them as the inevitable and objective reality of birth pass down in their stories, do not have to be true for you. We need to educate ourselves as much as possible, heal our traumas and connect with ourselves on the most basic level. We are divine beings made to birth as naturally and instinctually just as flawlessly as the rest of nature also executes it’s functions to reproduce and maintain life effortlessly. You are way more powerful than you give yourself credit for, grow into that power!! We have the power to manifest our ideal labor and birth. Likewise, having fear and distrust in our bodies will fulfill those fears. You get to choose.

I just gave birth December 21 2020 to a beautiful little girl. I had a second degree tear after giving birth naturally while standing up at a 90 degree angle. I did not take my time to push her out I pushed her out in about 2 pushes I think that’s what caused the tear because I was so determined to get her out. I do agree you shouldn’t be afraid of tearing. Personally, I did NOT feel it when I tore. They numbed me and sewed me back up. I took the prescribed 600mg ibuprofen and once I hit 2 weeks postpartum I no longer needed to take the medicine and felt fine.

Im 5 months pregnant.. and all my life i have been aftaid of being pregnant. But by watching your videos i m feeling positive and strong. Thanks for your techniques and suggestions. Mostly people always talk about pains and pains and that cause sometimes unneccessary panic attacks. I have heard being stressed actually worsen the labour time.
I REALLY FEEL BLESSED BCZ YOU HAVE MADE VIDEOS ON PREGNANCY AND LABOR.
STAY BLESSED..❤❤❤

Hi ladies! New mom here 🙋🏽‍♀️! I just had my baby on Feb 28. Let me tell you.... I WAS WORRIED ABOUT TEARING TOO! This is my first time for EVERYTHING baby, so I was concerned about my downstairs area because HELLO?!! I don’t want it to look funny or change haha. Anyway, I did tear. I had two minimal tears inside my vagina and needed stitches. It is VERY true when they say that every woman will experience some kind of trading during child birth. Best thing you can do is go into it without expecting everything to come out perfect. OF COURSE, you can prep down there and do your exercises and what not but you cannot control your skin when it comes time to push, it just happens. I do have to admit, my doctor was AMAZING and he himself (along with the nurses who helped deliver my baby) told me servers times that they were trying to prevent me from tearing! I also asked the nurses to please do what ever they could to prevent or help try to prevent severe tearing... AND they did. Note : i DID get an epidural so the feeling may be different for those of you who want to go natural BUT i do remember feeling what it felt like when they were sewing me up, and i did feel a bit of discomfort but nothing crazy. Communicate, let your team know what you want and what you need. Of course it’s not in our control but let them know you want some help to minimize tearing and I promise they will help! 💜💜💜 don’t be scared! Depending on your tears, recovery is not as bad as they make it seem. Of course my tears differ from women who have had 3 to 4th degree tears but trust me, (and i have very low pain tolerance) during recovery, you will be occupied worrying about baby and that will help with pain management. Just rest, take it easy and keep the area as clean as possible 😊😊😊I was scared too but once you’re in there in pain and trying to get your baby out, you don’t even think about anything other than your focus on getting baby out. Good luck mamas!

If only I could get back the time I worried about tearing with my first pregnanncy. I tore with both births one was natural one was with a walking epidural. The natural birth I actually tore worse than the epidural birth. Ladies do not worry, it is not worth the wasted time! The hoo-ha goes back to normal! It is extremely resilient.

*Disclaimer* I do believe that third and fourth degree tear recoveries are definitely a different ball game. From what I've heard though they are somewhat more rare. So I cannot speak on those.

This is soo scary I know about 6 people in my life who had really bad tear and this was the reason why I chosen to get c section I have fear anything coming out of my vagina and going in when I got married it took me 2 weeks to let my husband touch me ... and I don’t regret my decision thank god I didn’t have any side effects or pain after my surgery I was on Tylenol after I left the hospital. Of course everyone’s body is different I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd I hope everything goes well🙇🏽‍♀️

Dosent scar tissue from tears make subsequent births worse. You wont stretch as easy & tear again? You would need more episiotomys?

I've torn with 3/4 of my births. 2 of the tears were mild and healed without stitches, I pushed when i felt the urge and it helped me not tear as much. My worst tear was from when I was forced to push by a doctor and it was no fun. The doctor had the scissors in his hand to cut me and I asked him not too when I saw, the healing was uncomfortable but not as bad compared to my friends that had episiotomys.
