That's why I look up to the old schools. So many tricks that will leave us youngsters in the dust. 👏 👏

I've been watching and trying forever. Finally I found your video after watchng several others. Great job. Your invention works well and you didn't try to sound like a rocket scientist by blabbering on and on. Thank you.

Lol at this actually working. Just did the radiator on my Explorer and those lines just don't come out. I used the die grinder method to split the fitting and release it. You have to be careful with the grinder to not touch the actual line or you're hosed--it will never seal right if you grind a groove on it. Once this fitting is split I noticed that there is a nylon ring that holds the barbs in place. Next time I'll use the propane torch and burn the nylon off. After trying all the special tools you'll realize you have to get medieval on this and get the torch out.

I just replaced my Radiator on a 2010 Ford Explorer. Everything was easy except the Transmission lines. I spent 3 hours trying. Even with the special tool. Someone on YouTube used a torch. It worked great but a little dangerous. I used my Heat Gun and the end came off in 3 minutes. Amazing!!! Sooo happy. The heat gun is the same gun used to heat shrink wires, etc. Good Luck

Yeah, I just bought a quick-disconnect tool case for Ford and GM and thought I was ready to replace my coolant lines and find out that NONE of the tools in the case work on modern Ford vehicles for trans cooling lines. I had already taken off my lines from the trans and thought I was golden but noooo. Thanks for the hack!

I cut the plastic handle off a 3 gallon water jug. Cut it in half long ways. Put a bolt inside of it. Molded it perfectly round. Took less than 5 minutes to make. Snapped over the line pushed it in and pulled out the line in 3 seconds.. this trick absolutely works but just needed alittle more thought put into it.. i hardly ever buy cheap specialty tools like this.. if one man can make it so can u... and usually save tons.. 10 bucks is ten bucks.

Good one! I used two tiny flat-head screwdrivers & disconnected the line within a few seconds. The "special" tools are a very bad design, no matter the company they come from. Two tiny screwdrivers did the job, like I said, in a few seconds. I returned the "special" tools, btw.

Great video, in the middle of this now. Of course I have a plow truck that has been native to Ohio since 2006, its Manufacturer year. Needless to say there is considerable amounts, and I mean herculean amounts of rust and corrosion underneath, including the above referenced 3/64" where my tool needs to go. I have a decent ($35) disconnect tool made my Lisle. (Part # 39220), still cant seem to get 2 of them of the Trans-cooler. PB Blaster and Kroll Oil on them last night, gonna venture out now, with a few plastic strips to clean rust out for a few hours.. lol Thanks

Right on. Cool. I definitely hate misplacing my tools period. I never lose mine, was told all the time put stuff away where you got it. An it always dawns on me wait who was in the garage last… kids….wife….family. Hate having peoples kids in my garage.

If you're replacing the rad just unbolt that fitting and heat it up, with pliers that piece comes off, just wipe off the trans line end and done.

It reminds me of push to connect “shark bite” fittings for plumbing

Most auto parts stores sell them. Just run down and get one. Also a little penetrant helps because it usually has a bunch of dirt packed in them.

Here to say, I Heated up where it threads into the radiator and just unscrewed that part and left the quick connect attached. make sure to spray with pb blaster.

Good to know. I have the metal tool but if I lose it I’ll try this technique. I’ve read complaints about the plastic clips you can buy being good for one shoot. I always have a plastic bottle

It helps a lkt if you flood the garter spring housing with brake cleaner alternating with compressed air to flush away dirt and grime that's collected over the years.
