If you are injured in an automobile collision caused by a driver who was not insured, and you have UM (uninsured motorist) coverage on your automobile insurance policy, your insurance company can compensate you for most of the things you could have made a claim for against the other driver. This include medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. Not all Texas automobile insurance policies have UM coverage; you must choose to carry it on your auto policy, and you have to pay extra premiums to have the coverage.
