Today I’m coming to ya with some of the most common errors made when performing the deadlift.

The deadlift is the King of exercises, but can be one of the most incorrectly performed. With proper form, the deadlift can help you grow the glutes, the back, the hamstrings, strengthen the core and many more benefits.

In this video I go over the most common mistakes, and how to avoid them.

- Excessive Rounding of the back
- Hyperextending on lockout
- Involving the arms and traps (shrugging etc)
- Hips too low in the starting position
- Bar too far/close to the shins

I’ve been working out for a year and I only learnt the correct deadlift form beginning of this month! I’ve even started to see big improvements in my glutes and hamstrings since correcting my form. I was able to do a 70kg deadlift with horrible form, but when I started to correct it, I went all the way down to a 20kg (which I felt waaay more than the 70kg bad form btw) A tiny bit of advice, don’t focus too much on increasing the weight. Master the form and loading will be a tad more manageable. Thanks for this excellent video ❤️💕

Hey Mel, I was wondering with deadlifts do you put the weight all the way down then pick it up again like a new rep or do you use the momentum and keep reps going from the prior lift almost like a constant squat movement

I’ve never felt safe doing a deadlift by myself. Always always ALWAYS did them with my trainer. My biggest fear is pulling a muscle. Also the free weight section intimidates me because it’s so heavily populated with men 😩
