As you saw, Femke Bol ended the 2023 season with a bang, and now, started the Olympic year with a phenomenal performance in the 400m! As you all know, it is the same distance Sydney McLaughlin shifted her focus on since last year.

On that note, some say that we can expect some mouth-watering clashes to come from the likes of #sydneymclaughlin and #FemkeBol. It is no secret that rivalries between the sport’s biggest stars always provide a gripping narrative for any season. And, mind you, this season isn’t like the others, since the Paris Olympics will be held this year.

Both Femke and Sydney are, without a doubt, ready for it.

For her part, Femke Bol is a multi-tasker. Whether it’s breaking barriers over the flat 400m, clearing barriers over the 400m hurdles or being the star member of her nation’s 4x400m relay squad, Bol proved herself to be a remarkable athlete in #trackandfield .

The USA Olympic Trials are at the end of June. I suspect Sydney will run 2 or 3 races prior to the trials and they will all be outdoors.

Femke Bol will not compete in the flat 400m in Paris, she has said this in nearly every interview since her indoor WR in 2023 (they keep asking her).
Like you stated, it is still unknown what Sydney is going to do in Paris, but a double is highly unlikely because of the schedule.
So the thumbnail says "IT WILL HAPPEN"... but they might not even race each other in Paris...

Great performances by Femke Bol, and when I look at that final at the World Indoor Championships, she ran that World Record so easily. She clearly has much more in the tank... + She still can do a lot of work on further improving her 14 step hurdling technique...

Femke will run the 400mh and not the flat 400 m as she has stated every time that she’s been asked. Sidney, on the other hand, hasn’t run a 400 MH in competition for more that 1 1/2 years, plus she shifted her focus to the 400 m flat more than a year ago before she was injured. I expect that she’ll probably run the 400 m(flat). The two will likely only meet head to head in the two 4x400 relays (mixed & womens)!
I’ll also mention that Femke is lazer focused, healthy and has been consistently improving both her speed & stamina. In comparison, Sidney is also lazer focused…but on her book & talk show tour and launching her signature NB running attire!

Folks sit back and don't run anywhere, only run to the table to eat and have all that negative comment about these athletes. These athletes have more respect for each other than that. It will be fantastic competition for the Olympics and the viewing audience.

However I think you used the wrong footage when showing Bol winning the 400m in Glasgow; she was followed by the other Dutch 400m star Klaver - not by the American Holmes. Holmes had to settle for bronze behind the two Dutch women.

Apart from the 800m WR, the one record that really needs to be beaten and finally removed from the record books is the 400m WR of 47.60 seconds, set in 1985 by the known juiced up drugs cheat, Marita Koch.

Sydney will run low 48's or high 47's in the 400m in Paris. If you can't run that fast you will be running for second.

Indoor atheletics is not as impressive as the outdoor. less variable challenges like wind, heat, track surface, etc.. Sydney should figure out the strength distribution to beat Femke. They are only two atheletes with the same caliber.
