And even though it looks like it’s gonna be a tough season for Femke Bol with the return of Sydney McLaughlin in the 400-meter hurdles, this 24-year-old Dutch sensation has just proved she is ready for what lies ahead of her.

Bol is rising but to my knowledge she's never really come close to beating SML or SML's personal records, and who knows where SML's ceiling is this season with how fast she's started already (and who knows where Bol's ceiling will eventually end up). Both are wonderful and humble athletes and worth cheering on - us fans are so lucky to have them.

If I Google both athletes, Wikipedia reports Sydney’s 400mh PB (WR) as 50.65 and Femke Bol’s 400mh PB as 51.45. This will be a marquee event in Paris. If both are at their peak, and Syd wins by .8 sec, at that running speed it will be at least a ten yard gap. Maybe a little more.

Whilst at this point in the season I am leaning towards Sydney, it MAY not be a foregone conclusion as many believe. Sydney's 48.75 is a very impressive time and at this stage is being used to guide people selection and that is very understandable, but how does that time compare to Bol's 49.17 indoors in March. We may get some further insight into Bol's current 400m hurdles shape at the end of the European Champs that is now in progress.

Bol is a fine runner…but she was an NPC along with the other runners when Syd broke the world record.

Syd has gotten faster since then with her short sprint training…

I find it interesting how so many here are saying that FB is not in the same league as SML! FB has 3 WRs and is the 2nd fastest woman 400mh ever and is only .38 seconds behind SML season opening time this year! It is slightly slower I agree, but it is in the same league in my opinion. They are both tremendous athletes and good human beings and we, as fans, will be fortunate to see them compete against each other in Paris! Hopefully they will both be healthy and run their best races! I’m just going to sit back, relax and enjoy what is shaping up to be a potentially epic race!

And Sydney just broke the 400MH world record again last night. Her time is almost 2 seconds faster than Bol's time right now. Sydney will more than likely break her WR again in Paris.

Sydney McLaughlin will win unless she gets an injury before Paris or if she gets injured at the Olympics or hits a hurdle and falls. She is just faster than Femke Bol at every distance starting with the 110 hurdles, the 200 meters, the 400 meters and the 400 meter hurdles. It's that simple.

Sydney times are still faster than Bol. I love both runners but facts are facts💯
