Interactive Brokers (IBKR) Long Term User Review (2023)

I've been using IBKR for about 3 years now, so I guess you can consider me a long-term user -- and I must say, they have changed the way I invest.

There are a few things I like about them from being regulated, licensed and well-insured to having the BEST brokerage fee!

But of course, they are not totally perfect as there are also a few things I think they should improve, which is their web portal and mobile app experience - if you have been using IBKR for a while now, you'd know what I mean. Adding to that, they have 3 different mobile apps in total! It definitely can cause some confusion in beginners.

Only thing I wished was possible for now was that fractional shares be available for stocks on LSE as well. Been DCA-ing into CSPX every month and buying a whole unit every time is a bit restrictive 😅

Great and unbiased review of the platform! Would like to hear your thoughts about the mobile apps and what are their differences. Which one would you recommend for investors who probably perform 1-2 trades a month (buy, hold/forget)?

Great video and covering all the troubles I had with the main platform. It`s just horribly complicated compared to three other platforms i use. They should have developed a second platform geared towards Newbies and regular Joe`s and offered it alongside the professional platform. The Mobile App I do like for its simplicity but there appears to be no way to put in stop loss settings, or indeed trailing stops, my preferred option. Maybe I am missing something.?? These stop options are vital when dealing with highly volatile small and micro caps. I subbed and look forward to watching all your other videos today. Cheers.

Hi, zeit kindly if you can guide me on this, if a person buys US securities in his cash account through IBKR on Monday for instance and wants to sell it the same day, is it possible, would it lead to GFV, secondly if you buy the stock on Monday and sell it off on Tuesday, can one open his next trade, on the same day, will the individual be confronted to Good faith violation.

Funny that you mention the order execution. There's been multiple tests now and IBKR consistently rates the worst in execution quality. Even worse than robinhood.

Fact is, the market makers and the exchange decide the execution quality. And IBKR has a really low margin fee, and works with a lot of international clients and offers a lot of extras like futures so it's a riskier brokerage than something like Fidelity or Schwab who get a big chunk of their trades through mutual funds and 401Ks.

And if you look at the revenue, they get a fee for trading, but charge less for margin. So they really aren't giving a discount. They're just charging differently. Plus, and this is important: PAYING DOESN'T MEAN YOU AREN'T THE PRODUCT. There is nothing stopping them from charging you and accepting money on the back end.

The real reason to choose IBKR is if you use margin or like their platform.
