As an older man who spent 30 years lifting heavy weight, I've decided to move to calisthenics....free handstand being my first goal, watched every calisthenics video on YouTube, bought online manuals, after 3 months....barely any across this video....4 days later....consistent 8-10 second handstands with a PR of 16 seconds!!

"don't orients towards the goal, orient towards the journey, you'll find peace along the way".
That's the most important lesson today. Thanks Kino!

I love that "surrender to the journey and not the goal."

This is really helpful! Thank you so much, Kino. By the way, you said it took you 5 years to learn how to press up to a handstand--that's just laudable, that after all the years, you didn't give up and kept doing it until one day you pressed up. It is hard, sometimes, for me to remember that it is only yoga after all, and that I shouldn't be hard on myself and should just keep practising. It's easy to get frustrated, but I am learning to just "be here". Thanks for being such an inspiration.

Great video! I don't think that the part about taking 5 years should be demotivate anyone who is trying to learn. What Kino is trying to say is take your time and go at your own pace. It took her 5 years, but it might take you less time or it might take you longer. The point is to stick with it and once you get it, it will be  well worth the journey. At least that's what I got out of it.

I'm practicing my handstand every day for half a year already. I'm pretty good but progress is slow and I'm walking around on my hands a lot to keep a handstand going.
The fact you took 5 years, really helped my motivation now to continue the journey.
Thanks a lot!

tbh I've been trying to do handstands for so many years, I've recently started doing arm balance yoga poses, and every skill I've gotten was from your videos. This approach is so helpful

Thank you so much for posting this!  I've been able to do headstands since I was 4 years old, but could never master a handstand. I would start from standing & kind of "flail" my legs into the air, balancing a bit before a fell over.  Your explanation had me balancing in just a few tries!!! THANK YOU!!!

5 years! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing that!! I've been at it for almost one year and have just recently gotten past my total existential terror of being upside down 😅 It really is all about the journey ❤️

You above all other teachers, cue and instruct in such a way, where even watching your form, has a way of describing the Asana and required actions to achieve obtaining balance.

Also for myself, your recognition of the spiritual aspect is admirable as well. Koodos for presenting it is a way where those only for the physical, are not threatened away by the spiritual.

Thank you

You have made my day. I've been trying hand stands for a long time and when I do, I just walk on my hands to keep steady. But when I tried yours, I got it on my first try.

Gonna practice practice practice. Thanks alot.
