Why shouldn't you get CompTIA A+ certified? The A+ certification is one of the most often acquired entry-level IT certifications. For some people, it makes sense to become A+ certified, but CompTIA's A+ is not for everyone.

Having got the CompTIA Trifecta (A+, Net+, and Sec+), I would have to say only get the A+ if you know nothing about computers. Instead go for Net+ and Sec+ to get a good foundation of what a network is and what cyber security is. The A+ exam is no joke, it is long and very tedious... I wish I would've skipped it. Thanks for the video Cristoph!

I already am on a Helpdesk position and was thinking on getting that same certification, now thanks to you I'll just wait for a year to finish my IT degree and focus on either another one or learn something else.

Great vid and great insight!

My recommendation for anyone starting in IT is do CS50 Harvard Introduction to computer science...free and do anything Aws, azure or gcp related.

I'd have to agree with you. If you've already been in help desk for awhile you probably wouldn't need to know the amount of detail A+ gets into. That being said, I knew some of the hardware components on a computer but that was about it. I feel much more well rounded after doing the A+. I had no option to skip it due to it being apart of WGU's degree plan. I have no regrets going for it though, it most definitely will help when it's time to do Net+ and Security+ since A+ covers a lot of the entry level baselines to those classes. Just look at the objective sheets and you can see the vast amount of cross over.
