You are correct, Sir. $20 to $25 an hour ain't six figures, but it's nothing to sneeze at when getting your foot in the door.

A+ will get your foot in the door for sure. I was running self storage facilities and now I’m a night shift team lead for a gaming pc company. Testing for network + next week

The tough part is going from making much more in your current career, but desire to go into tech, but have to a big pay cut, The challenge is being able to maintain the cost of living until you gain more experience and higher certifications

I knew nothing about computers. Nothing about IT. I was scared of computers when i was younger because i thought they might kill me - obsession with the terminator. I'm currently studying for the compTIA ITF+ to at least understand basic concepts. Then I got addicted to it. Never thought my special interest would go from WW2 to computer science. Now I'm watching the harvard introduction to computer science video, and free full courses about python and other stuff like introduction to programming and data structures. I don't see the certs as a way to get a job now. I just see them as a way to show myself im capable of doing it. We're so lucky we have youtube and other platforms to learn so much about literally anything.

My big homie who's literally taken me under his wing in every aspect of life has been trying to put me onto this for years. My dumb ass is finally looking into. Probably won't have all the answer but it sounds like a promising start.

I was working at a gym and then i told my boss i was studying for this and he made some calls to corporate and they said they like to hire IT internally. So im not even taking my exam yet, but they are already in the process of moving me in there. Ima get my certification still, but sometimes, look into the job you are at right now and ask if they have that department and if they are hiring internally and maybe you can get your foot in the door and the word of mouth.

I'm a IT Support Specialist in the Govt sector. Pays decent, lots of down time (night shift), 100% remote, decent manager who's been flexible.

I count my blessings and will stay as long as I can. I'm looking to move up however and see this as a side job.

If want to work in the network infrastructure.Comptia server+comptia network+ is a way to start.I have a solid work experience with hardware.I don't think that troubleshooting wireless mouse issues will bring me closer to network infrastructure.

Would you suggest reading the book or watching the online courses on youtube?

I've seen median income at around $48-50K. What's a more appropriate expectation?

Get all your certs and still cant get the job unless you know someone, and have a manager that knows less than half of what you do. AND they want like 5yrs experience for 'entry level'.
