Took me from November 2022 to July 2023 to get A+ 1101 done. Most of it was nervousness.

I'm coming brand-new green to the industry. I passed all my broker exams for finance. Left that to pursue IT. I did the CompTIA A+ in a month and a half. Because I also had to work a full-time job. If you're really in deep work passing this exam should be no problem

I hit it HARD for a month passed the Core 1, I'm coming up on another month about to take the core 2, after a year I expect to have Net+ and Sec+ as well

Two weeks per test. I taught at a well known training center. My students normally went 40 hours per test. Except Security + which needs a lot of memorization.

It took me 2 years lol self paced. Those books were huge and the test itself asked for random bs info that you will not remember In a level 1 helpdesk Jon but that was in 2015 for me

Studying everyday type of schedule, I mean a few hours minimum, should be no more then 2 or 3 months. I think most ppl study hard for 1 week a month and that’s it

I actually passed both 1101, 1102, AND just passed my Network+, all within a year. Took a while because I had to pay for them (my new job i got before taking the Network+ actually paid for that one). Depending on if you study daily, 3-6 months is enough.

'How long will it take?' is the wrong question to ask and Rob is answering the wrong question. 'How many hours will it take?' Depending on your comfort level and knowledge going in, probably 60 - 240 hours. If you can only devote 3 hours a week, it'll take longer than someone who can study 2-4 hours a day.

I took both tests in 5 weeks. Get a book, read it, take the test. You only have to score around 70%

I agree. Some people sre full of it or too scared to take it. You cant stop studying for 2 3 months and start back. You have to keep at it for real because by that time you probably have forgotten some things and its like starting all.over again. 👍

If you’ve been studying A+ for a year, then you should be able to teach a course on it at that point. You’d be an A+ subject matter expert.

Definitely not an easy question to answer. How many hours of time you invest and how well you understand and sustain what you learned is key.
The exams are not that hard. But it doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing on the job either. At the minimum. Get some self practice experience to apply what you are learning in your studies. Certification Opens the door. Your skills are what seal the deal getting the job.

I am certain there is a plethora of General CompTIA A+ textbooks available in the market right now. what do you recommend do I get to study for the exam? thanks

I’ve been in it for absolutely months now and I’m still learning new things and picking up new things. I’m averaging about 70% in practice tests.

To make notes and understand the 18 hours of video course I was given for CompTIA took 6 months and that was just the hardware course… by the time I came back to read it I had no idea what I was reading… I dunno how some guys are doing it in a week
