One mistake:
The "DB_CLIENT" environment variable specifies the type of database. It should be "DB_CLIENT=pg".

I've been using Joplin for a year or so. It's not as fancy as Notion or other normie apps but the ability to self-host and end-to-end encrypt my relatively high-stakes data in an open-source program is very valuable to me. At the end of the day I don't care about how many fancy features the other apps have, Joplin lets me create pages with 100s of screenshots and notes and that's what a note-taking app is *actually used for*.

You are teaching this to people that I believe can do this without your help. For some newbies we have no idea what you are talking about. You need to slow down explain more and understand that we need clarification on every step. Just my opinion.

The Notebooks on the side panel are also very useful for separating topics. For example, keep a notebook for personal banking separate from your personal notebook for running your media lab, an another one for your Youtube maker work, and another one for day job, another for health and wellness.

I've used Joplin for ... five years? now. Maybe longer. It houses my brain. And I'm a writer. It's my primary writing platform until I have to eventually port to a Word file (publishing industry standard, unfortunately).

I used to sync it to Dropbox. Now i use Joplin Cloud. It supports the developer and works really really well. And, this is awesome, you can publish to the web with a click so I can share documents for review with folks.

I love Joplin. I use it every single day since I started using it last year. Obsidian seems to be "better" but we have to pay network it or something (I don't remember). It's also not as simple as Joplin, and simple seems to be best when it comes to note taking!

However, I never got a Joplin server to work. I really hope your method helps. I'll try it once I get the time!

Loved the video!
Been using Obsidian Notes in combination with a Syncthing plugin hosted on my TrueNAS up until now but I will definitely give this a try.

Great video. Unfortunately, I had problems getting sync to work if setting it up with Google authentication in Cloudflare. Setting policies as e.g. country didn't work either.

Hello! Great video! Could you explain in detail how to save files to local storage? I can't figure it out. There are only scraps of information on the forums. When I specify a directory on the server, for example /srv/local/joplin, I get a lot of errors. I haven't quite figured out how to store files on the server. Thank you.

You mentioned proxmox at the end, which route would you go getting it installed on that? VM or LXC or something else?

Just wondering why we would use "depends on:" instead of "links:"

How convenient, I was just found out about Joplin yesterday and never had the time to check it out

I used a free S3 server for Joplin, speed and security are most important.

I use BookStack as my knowledge base but find it is not so good for note-taking. I current just use Notepad++ for notes so may give Joplin a try. Notion is by far my favourite notetaking app, the only reason I switched was because you can't self-host it.

@DBTechYT Can you place two pictures side by side as you can with OneNote? Can you put TEXT alongside the Picture? Can you draw arrows to a location on the picture OR place circles around a particular image on a picture as you can with OneNote. I'm just wondering because these flexibilities are what make OneNote great!

Hello,
I'm trying to deploy the stack in Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS aarch64 cloud environment and I'm getting the flowing error for joplin_app container :
exec /usr/local/bin/tini: exec format error
any idea how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
