I think the hardest part about Danganronpa's Death Game isn't even the game itself, it's the participants. There are a lot of intelligent characters in the series, whether them being the killer or the case-solver. You can think of all the strategies you want but if the others are as smart as you are, you're still pretty much fucked. That's what makes the game so good though. It's so tiring to see Death Games where everyone is an idiot.

Makoto has so good luck actually. Everything that went bad for him eventually turned and saved him(broken bathroom door being bad for him, but saving him in the trial) so he is pretty lucky.

The Mastermind twist was honestly one of the best twists I've seen in fiction, it was so unpredictable and unexpected unless you got spoiled ofcz. If any of y'all actually figured out the Mastermind's identity before Chapter 6, my hat's off to you.
Also the novel Danganronpa IF, made by the official creators, describes what would happen if Mukuro (twin sister who got impaled) betrayed Junko and worked with everyone.

These are good ideas until you learn that Monokuma wants the killers to fail. The events of the third game prove that he'll actively help the students if they're short on evidence. Throughout the entire series, investigations take a varied amount of time and always seem to end once the students have just enough evidence to figure out who it is. Monokuma is also fully in charge of when the trial ends, meaning he can keep it going until the students get the right answer.

The only way to truly win is to just not die. But anyone who's finished V3 knows that surviving isn't enough. You need to actively beat Monokuma and escape to win.

I know I'm super late (I just recently finished Danganronpa on my own), but I want to put down what I believe is the best killing strategy and probably one of the biggest missed opportunities Naegi could've taken.

At 15:23 the two bros were having a competition to see who can stay in the sauna the longest, with our protag as the scout to see who left first. All Naegi would have to do is lock them both in there, turn up the temperature as much as possible, and then leave them to get burned alive. It should only take them an hour or so to die and there would be no evidence against him because no one was around nor did they know about the competition until after Naegi told everyone about it.
