The 5080 is not very impressive. I don't see how it can be faster than a 4090 when it is so cut down. The spec gap between the 5090 and the 5080 is huge.

As 7900xtx user i am hyped for RTX 5090, really wish it to succeed and not have burning connector, only stopping worse from not getting used RTX 4090 and it will be downfall for it sadly

Selling the 5090 cheaper than 4090 makes no point. Less profit and wasted opportunity, it will be at least $1999. 5080 starts at $999

Hmmm... my 4080 is almost two years old, but I got it for $1360 because I wanted a good MSI model. Don't get me wrong, I got a lot of value from it, being playing at maxed out settings and 1440p to all my games, using frame gen for a nice high refresh rate experience and all, but the 4090 was $1599 in the place where I got the 4080 at that price. These news are making me regret not getting the 4090. I just needed an extra $239, which is the value my 4080 already lost when the Super came out. For a GPU that is that old, it compares quite well the 5080, and if that thing happens to be cost $1000, or more, then the 4090 didn't lose as much value as the 3090Ti, and considering I paid $160 more for a GPU that was already $200 too expensive, I 100% didn't make the right choice.

This goes to show that either the 5090 is going to be too expensive and the 4090 didn't age badly at all, or, Nvidia isn't trying to push the 5080 because they don't have reasons to. Like you said, the 4080 Super isn't that old, it still selling well.

The specs for the 5080 are looking rough, highly doubt it'll be noticeably better than the 4090 if it even manages to surpass it in raster in the first place.

What gets me is that it looks like 5090 is literally twice the card that the 5080 is, in many ways. It could be worth $2, 000 even though I don't want to pay that much for it. Thumbs up.

The 5080 looks massively gimped. A big reason for this could be that AMD has ditched the high-end and enthusiast class segments with RDNA 4, so Nvidia don't feel pressured to push the 5080 as hard as they intended to. Back when the RTX 50 Series were rumoured to be on a custom TSMC 3N node, the 5080 was shaping up to be a beast. It was said to have 120 SMs with 20GB of VRAM on a 320-bit bus on a fully enabled GB203 GPU. If the 5080 had those specs, it would substantially outperform the 4090. You can really see how powerful Nvidia was planning to make it before tonnes of leaks appeared saying that AMD has ditched the high-end and enthusiast class segments. From the possibility of a bleeding edge 120 SM 5080 now being out the window to a paltry 84 SM 5080.

Going to be crazy to see what the 5090 will be scalped for. Then whats the price going to be on the 5080. Is ai still going strong for the average consumer? I really don't see the ai consumer GPU buyers growing.

600w is utterly insane. That's a big no from me. I was somewhat concerned about the 300+ watts from the 3080 when I got that. 600 is just too much IMO for a simple graphics card and just sounds dangerous lol. You're approaching a space heater's low setting* at that point

"Nobody use 32 gb of vram for gaming" You my friend have probably never played a heavily modded skyrim VR, or other heavily modded games in VR. It gets sometimes close to 24 gb of vram
