5080 24gb needs 3gb memory chips!
So maybe we get that model as Super upgrade Next year.
The 16gb model has 256 bit memory bus aka it use 8 * 2Gb = 16Gb memory… if 3gb memory get released next year… it means 8*3gb = 24Gb memory with same memory bus. So it will not be faster, but will have more memory… lets see how much more expensive the super version will be if they use 3gb memory modules… Jensen needs new leather Jacket at 2025 also!

With AMD all but giving up the high-end market and Intel still fumbling out of the gate, Nvidia can do WHATEVER the f* they want with the 5xxx series and they know it. It's a super sad day for the consumer GPU market. The CPU/SSD/Mobo are all enjoying healthy competitions but GPU? F* that loser!

Remember nvidia released the rtx2070 non A dies for cheaper creating two very different performing rtx2070 versions at launch. My point is that nvidia will always pull these naming tricks on customers. Just last month they released the 4070 with slower vram and they kept the same name…

Ngreedia is being stingy with VRAM especially because of AI. They know they have the monopoly, so the customers have no choice but to pay $400 more for an extra 8GB VRAM

In 2025: "we're unlauching the 16gb 5080..."

They must stop this BS naming different gpus same name. Use ti/super/ultra/extra whatever.

Told you so! The second AMD said they aren’t competing in the high end, Nvidia pounced! Why would Nvidia release a 5090 (GB202) when they can sell them for $30, 000+ to data centers, and just release a 5080(GB203) as a 5090 and the 5070(GB204) as a 5080.

ah shit here we go again, the 4070ti situation. I will get the 5080 24gb ( if its true ) as I am someone who upgrades every 2 gens to each 80 class GPU. Considering AMD will not compete I have no choice to grab Nvidia if I want to stay near the top. My 3080 is honestly still doing pretty damn good at 3440x1440, same as my 6800xt in another rig but they I know someone who really wants a PC and I will happily let my parts go way cheaper than market value to them.

Just go with AMD at this point, ridiculous prices. They can't create even a 16gb VRAM card without it costing an arm and a leg.

If your GPU costs that of an entry to mid level PC, that's a nope from me dawg.

There was enough backlash on the 4080 12GB that they had to put stickers on already finished box (literally the worst case scenario to make such a change).
I will not believe they will be doing it again.
Are you just click baiting now?

what is the point of all this when ppl cannot afford them?

That's what I've been saying ever since I saw the 16GB RTX 5080. I've been saying it's the 5070 Ti, not the RTX 5080. Screw them if they try this crap again. It won't affect me any because I'll know the difference, but it might trick some people into buying a worse card, and they won't even know there's a difference. I know what they want to do, though. They want to make a cheaper RTX 5080 because it's what gamers want. We want the 80 class cheaper. We don't want a totally different GPU with the same name, though. We want the RTX 5080 to be at least 30% faster than the 4080 Super, and we want it to be priced around $800. We don't want it to be the 4070 Ti successor, though. We want a true RTX 5080 at the price it should be, which is $800 now. If they can do what they did last time and give us two 5080's but make one the 5080 Ti, I might be on board with that, but only if both cards are actually a good upgrade over the 4080 super.

As a new builder I think I might just get a discount 4080 and call it a day on this constant wait for the next thing

Another price hike then... at some point Nvidia will sell it's gaming cards like Ferrari sells it's cars (by invitation to esteemed customers).
Until then team green fans, it's time to up the mortage on your houses, soon there will be a new card in town.

Got a 4070ti 16gb, 70x0 is when i will crawl from under my rock again.

since the 5080 is rumored to be only around 10% faster than the 4090, if it is over 700$ it will be more DOA than the original 4080 and will get more backlash than the 4080 12GB. around 4090 performance should be the 4070. a little more should be the 4070TI. Nvidia is skewing the tiers a second time if they do this. How anti consumer can you get before people stop buying GPUs.

whatever RTX 5080 has a super low CUDA count!

So, another 4080 12GB situation? We probably should just call it 5070 straight away.🤔

5080 with 24GB makes better sense than a 5090 with 32gb.
If you are dropping 2k+ for a gfx card you should be getting the maximum possible memory for that card.
And no, 32GB is NOT the maximum that can be addressed. 32Gb (gigabit) per chip means 4gb per memory chip. 32 or 64GB (gigabyte cards) is 100% possible
