Been laying bricks for 35 years and still love my work. Don't usually comment on other people's work but yours is something I would be proud of.

I am 73 and a bricklayer retired now living in Canada. Love your work. Agree with you 100%, I worked around Whittlesey/ Peterborough and Canada, for the Co-op in my apprenticeship.

4 years to look like a bricklayer
10 years to become one
And 20 to know it all

My mate is a bricklayer aged 55 with hands that look like crows feet, knackered joints and pain killers seem to be the only thing to look forward to

I take it when you say carpenters, you aren't involving bench joiners, cabinet makers, boat builders etc.. (many people use carpentery as a general term for all wood workers)
But as a cabinet maker - I can 100 percent say that for certain, that if you've served a good apprenticeship in any three forms of woodwork I mentioned above. That you would absolutely have no problem delivering a good product in regards to building - after obviously going through the process of learning your trade.
The tolerances I have to work with are preferably less that half a mm. And if my work is 'nats arse' (0.2/0.3 mm) out then I would generally say that that's an acceptable piece I can send out. But 9/10 times my work is the exact dimesnion it should be. Not digging any builders out what so ever. I come from a large family who are all pretty much in the trade in some way. And my grandfather owned a successful building company that worked nationwide and made a lot of money in the late 50's - early 90's so pretty much I respect every trade for what they do. We need all of them.
But I highly doubt that if you've started off laying brick, working with whats acceptable and what tolerances you have to be within you could then go into some forms of woodwork (especially the making of furniture etc..) it's a totally different ball game. And by nature, we have to work with a lot smaller tolerances in order for our product to fit and work functionally - I just can't see any builder ever having to be that accurate
