In this video David shows how to determine the equation of a wave, how that equation works, and what the equation represents. Created by David SantoPietro.

Physics on Khan Academy: Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. We'll start by looking at motion itself. Then, we'll learn about forces, momentum, energy, and other concepts in lots of different physical situations. To get the most out of physics, you'll need a solid understanding of algebra and a basic understanding of trigonometry.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

I think this is one of the best explanations I have ever seen, btw much better than listening to my physics teacher :D

I've never seen someone explain something so easily and in a way that makes total complete logical sense....our teachers just write some equations without explaining what each of the symbols and numbers represent nor what their relationships are to one another...it is a waste of my time and my life...but you just managed to explain math in such an elegant way that I've never seen before, thank you💖 I basically have survived all these years just by watching YouTube videos...you guys are the best teachers I know, hats off to you💖💐

It seems like my graduation from university pretty much depends on Youtube. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

I want to thank Youtube and Khan Academy as well as many other knowledge provider like Khan Academy, many education videos are a lot better than what my teacher taught me, Youtube is a great platform to study, I hope more people can benefit from this platform, knowledge can be spread in a faster, more accurate, easier to understand way

My mind is literally blown, I was searching for a derivation or at least an explanation of the wave equation and you explained it in such a clear way linking every step to the next. I can’t thank you and khan academy enough for putting such amazingly simple explanations for everyone to understand

I enjoyed every moment of the explanation. This kind of explanation, I was always expecting, when I ask someone to explain me about wave equation but never a satisfied answer i got so far and now i am very much impressed with the content of the video and the way it is explained. I will keep from now on, this as the base explanation, if would want to explain anyone on wave equation. I just want to give infinite like to this video.Thank you much.

That's the reason why Khan academy's is so awesome the way they explain the things and makes you understand each and very "PARTICLE"...of the subject....i must say..., To core concepts build and dug deep inside your brain which is never gonna fade away...i just salute to you sir....this one of the best explanation i had ever understood from any one....hats off to you....👍👍🙇🙇👏👏

THIS WAS SO GREAT. I was so confused when I was given an explanation in class, but this made it so clear. I had some homework concerning this equation and I was totally freaking out, but this was such a life saver. I breezed through the questions after this so thank you Khan Academy!

It is a smart idea to use such videos as a professor to facilitate the teaching learning process in class . The video surely can be used as additional learning material to make the concept more clear . It has a very good visual representation.

oh wow! how can the whole world not be geniuses with this quality of explanation so widely available. Too bad, I'm sucking all this up till its dry. Oh BTW Thanks!

I have been trying to understand this equation for a long time - I mean years - and I finally get it. Thank you! 😊 Thank you very much!

I'm a person without math who has for many years struggled to understand QM and especially the Wave Function. I wish I would have started with this video. From this video I now understand much better what a "function" is and does. I knew that sine and cosine had to be involved in the equation, but now I understand how. I would imagine the QM Wave Function is similar but with more than just x and t involved, such as p, and I know that it is "complex." My goal is to understand how the WF predicts the future state of the quantum particle. This video is a huge help, and I have watched many.

Spent almost six figures in a prestigious university so that I can learn for free from YouTube. If this isn't a dystopia than I'm not sure what this is.

Incredible! Even though I didn't get all of it...but the way you explain the formula was absolute stunning! Salute to you bro
