Since late 1961, at age 12, when "The Conquest of Everest" book - recounting the successful 1953 British expedition - fell into my hands, I've been a most dedicated Everest buff. Two years later, in 1963, the October issue of the National Geographic Magazine, carrying the story of the momentous American expedition, spurred my imagination even further.

From that time onward, I've always wondered how must the Everest summit look like. So I avidly read or watched whatever Everest story, publication or video I managed to find. I even spoke personally with a couple of successful Everest summitters. However, nothing seemed to whet my appetite for a real-life summit image. Until now.

Patience and resilience eventually bear fruit... Today, 61 years later, my wish has been thoroughly fulfilled. These astounding summit images just happened to be the second best to actually being there in person.
