When a video of girls singing and clapping goes viral in a remote village in Northern Pakistan, the local tribal jirga is accused of ordering their brutal murder. As the story goes from headlines to court rooms, it becomes clear that in a land of ancient traditions, the line between public and private can become fatally blurred when digital media enters the room.

calling them "animals" is an offense to animals

“If we allow such things in our environment (talking about women leaving their home), then our system will fall apart”- your system runned by all these low excuses of “men” is already a FAILURE to begin with. These poor women are doomed for life the very moment they were born into this so called “honourable” society. Just absolutely disgusting.

I m ashamed to be a pakistani 😔 there r more brutal cases in our society where a father burried alive his 18 year old daughter by simply denying his proposal of her marriage with his nephew. my mom suffered a lot more when ever she reveals her story to us tears pour into her eyes .I would like to say specially to Westerners you should be thankful to God by living in such well developed states plzz don't take these luxuries for granted 🙏

Rest in eternal and perfect peace Afzal Kohistani. He shone a light on this issue and this case at the risk of his own life and for 7 years he spoke his truth and fought against the evil system that would eventually take not only his own life, but the lives of several of his family members. May his name never die.

I also find it utterly courageous that the women in these oppressed regions took to the streets risking their lives in the name of women’s rights!!
NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL HONOR!!

That video is so innocent, them sitting (fully clothed) singing and clapping (not twerking, not even standing) and the one boy dancing and that got them killed. One girl wasn’t in the room and yet they all were tortured and then brutally killed and the boys killed too. What a messed up mindset and society.

Poverty, lack of education and the male ego combined never works out well for women/girls😔😔😔

The way his brothers face drained from happy to fearful when they opened the door and saw the cameras @ 1:18.50 broke my heart. You can feel their stress, anxiety, hopelessness and fear thru the screen, it's so palpable. God help them and EVERYONE suffering from such heinous injustices.

Massive respect for the MAM, who disagreed with the commission and wanted to stay, go up and check it herself, risking her life even when her colleagues disagreed, if there weren’t any weather issues! More power to you mam. You fought like a warrior ❣️. If I would become 10 percent of what you are someday, I’ll be proud of myself 😊

I remember when I was in college. I took accounting and and finance. A girl from one of these countries was my tutor. She was so smart. She was never at work. I would complain about her. I was so sorry when I heard her story. I cried with her. You can tell she did not want to go home. Her husband was a beast. Omg! I remember during one of our tutoring sections a man from her country took notice of her talking about her problems. I can tell you people. If that man could kill that girl. The way he was looking at us. I felt so sorry for her. So intelligent. I pray that she accomplished her dreams and got away from that life.

Major respect for the activists over there. I think we take for granted just how much more dangerous it is to call out injustice there than it is here in the west.

That poor boy who saw his mother stoned. Breaks my heart. The mentality is very animalistic. These people n their family members were murdered for clapping in a video. Clapping!!!! It’s an excuse for psychopaths to kill.
