Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I am 65 and Zeppelin was IT. Lots of Hashish in those days. Saw them in 1975 Montreal. This is Zeppelin best overall record. All members of Zeppelin were equals on this record. The music captures the mythical and the sacred. There is no profanity. Give a thumbs up if you get it thank you

I got this album Christmas day, 1977. I was 13. It was the only thing I'd asked for. Played it all day.... still listening to it today 46 years later... timeless masterpiece.

I clearly remember being in kindergarten at the record store with my dad and he bought the album . Listening to it on a cold Chicago afternoon as my mom cooked dinner. My parents were 18 at my birth and I owe my taste in music to them.

My very first led Zeppelin album! I felt so proud. The only girl I know in 1976 that got one for Christmas!!! My parents paid for that one. Played that album every day.

I'm 65. Spent alot of time zoning out to Zeppelin as a freak teen. The music was more enjoyable then because we spent more on our home and car stereos. Great speakers and amplifier brought this music straight into your head. A good buzz and plenty of volume.

Houses of the Holy. My very first hard rock album. I bought it when I was 13 to impress a boy that had a summer job working with my Mum at the local pharmacy. I'm 64 now. Thank you Derek. Best band ever. You were right. 💖😆

75 yrs old. First was my turn table, 2nd my 8-track, and 3rd my cassette deck that I wore out with Led and still "Grooving" today on YouTube. Guess that's why my hearing is not as good as it use to be.

Everyone says this album was before it's time in 73... It fit just perfect for the soundtrack of my life in 73. I wouldn't change a thing. People are welcome to continue to enjoy it. I know I still am very much so. Let history repeat itself through the generations. It still plays on classic rock radio 50yrs later. But we get to say we were there and some of us have it on vinyl. I know I have my original vinyl album and my precious memories attached to this album. I wouldn't change a thing. The timing was perfect. So stop saying they were before their time. It was their time and they Rocked!

I am 58. This is my favorite lifetime band. I started listening to them at around age 14 and have never stopped. What a talented group of musicians they all were. There is and never has been any band like them.

This was the album that by this time in 1973 the media, the public, and all the general hype was saying Led Zeppelin are the best band in the world. Led Zeppelin’s answer:- okay let’s make the very best album we are capable of writing and creating. For me this is their best album in terms of different textures, moods, and pure musicality.

I just turned 64 and I’m still amazed how great a life we had growing up in the 60’s and 70’s cruising around all night listening to zeppelin

It amazes me how much the kids today love it the way we did in the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s!

Considering this is a 1973 album, it's still like listening to music from the future. Led Zep were always so far ahead of the times

"No Quarter" and "The Rain Song" both show the genius of John Paul Jones' keyboard work, so often overlooked because he also played bass. The best!
