PS4 Controller Won't Connect?? - This is the EASY fix

If you're PS4 controller won't connect to your PS4 or other devices, follow the steps I've outlined below.

If you have a dualshock 4 controller currently connected to your PS4, hold down the PS button for 10 seconds to disconnect it.

Next, plug in the controller you want to connect via micro USB. Once it's plugged into the PS4, push the PS button on your controller to turn it on. If that doesn't work, then go into your bluetooth settings on your PS4 and click into your controllers and push the options button to forget each device.

Then attempt to reconnect the controller via micro usb cable. If that doesn't work, then try restarting your PS4 or connecting your controller to another device such as your PC or iPhone to ensure the micro USB cable or the controller isn't the problem.

Check the ports on your dualshock 4 controller to ensure it's not dirty and makes a good connection. Through all of those steps you should be able to connect your PS4 controller to your PS4.

Seems ironic that I CONSTANTLY have to go to “forget device “ almost EVERYTIME I try to sync a controller to my iPad or iPhone, but I appreciate and thank you for posting this video! The problem is getting to the point of making me wish I could afford a new ps4 otherwise.

What I did which worked:
1.Unplug the ps4 while it's on (on the home screen)
2. Do it with it plugged in a usb cable
3. Turn it back on and wait it reset
4. Once it tells you to connect, press the Ps button and it should connect and work

FIXED - This sounds idiotic...but the real fix is that not all these usb cables are equal. Some are data capable and some are charging only.

I found a thread on reddit after trying everything in this video and many other places and the thread said it's the difference in the cable so I got out my bag of 20 used cables. It took 6 tries but on the 6th cable...THE CONTROLLER FREAKING CONNECTED TO THE PS4!

Some little shit came over and used my ps4 controllers to sync to his phone and since then nothing syncs them back up with the ps4. Blue tooth or cable, nothing works.

if you have a second controller go to settings forget the controller that wont work and try connecting it again by holding the share and ps4 button it should show up. i just tried that and it worked. ( my controller would blink blue then go orange over and over when i used the cord. )
