My son is type 1...I love going into scientific detail about ketoacidosis vs ketosis to all the haters 😂

Thank you!! I’m a RN...I had a CRNA lecture me about how bad “ketoacidosis” was for my body and my kidneys and how dangerous it was...I said “I completely agree! That’s why I want to stay in ketosis.” She kept arguing with me that I was in ketoacidosis... I finally said “look...I’m conscious...but if I need an insulin drip I’ll let ya know!” Now she and her daughter do ketosis...go figure

I've been type 1 for over 20yrs. I've been on keto lifestyle for 13months after researching how to heal my liver. Well guess what my sugars are down to an average 4.6 UK numbers. My liver has healed and all the associated problems have disappeared. Ketogenic lifestyle has been been a life-changing event for me! I am definitely sticking with it.
Enjoy your vids.👌

I needed this!! I’m 62 hours into my first 72 hour fast and my keto stick turned almost black! Lol. I was already in ketosis for 3 weeks before attempting fasting. I love it, I feel so good. This quelled the last fear I had. Thank you!!!

I've been on keto for a few months now. My blood sugar is back to normal as well as my blood pressure. I've lost 35 pounds, my back pain is less, I'm feeling great and sleeping better. Thank you Dr.Berry. I'm sharing your videos with everyone I can.

Thank you from a Jeffrey that is NOT a serial killer. I’ve been doing Keto for about a year and a half and have maintained my weight loss of over 40 lbs for over a year. I considering Carnivore, but haven’t gotten there yet. Keep up the good work.

Let's be honest Dr. Berry you're tone, emphatic voice backed by tons of experience kills every hypochondriac idea floating in most of your follower's heads within a few minutes. Thanks again for a great video and I loved the fable too! It's a shame that people get scared like this and the real shame is that the people that probably need it the most: Obese, lowered kidney function, fatty liver, pre-diabetes, etc... are the ones that would be the most scared by the mix up on the difference between nutritional keto and ketoacidosis. Again thank you!

I have been calling it nutritional ketosis for 14 months now. You would not believe how many medical doctors or nurses I have to educate on the difference between the two processes. Its unbelievable. My own doctor said she would not recommend low carb and informed me that she spoke to an Endocrinologist and he agreed with her. I am keeping her as my physician for now as she struggles with her weight. I have had some ketogenic experiences with her 2 times in the grocery store. Her basket is high carb and GMO foods. She commented on the amount of cartons of Happy Eggs in my basket and the high fat of wild caught salmon. Kerrygold butter and cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil. She was buying conventionally raised animal products. It amazes me how much knowledge is out there in the internet world, yet those who claim ketogenic is bad they don't practice care for themselves but want to guide me to health !?!?!

I'm tired of this too. I remember like it was yesterday, I was about 6 months in keto & seeing so many results. A friend who was type 2, called me ALL the way out because she heard how dangerous keto is bc of ketoacidosis. I explained it to her, but she looked at me like I had 3 heads and kept telling me how I was "at risk". Dangerous to do for long term. Years later, my a1c has been under control at 4.1 and I feel better than i ever had. Unfortunately, my friend is still struggling with her diabetes, still on meds, and has even more health issues than before. THEY GOT HER! 😩

I just had this conversation with a friend of mine that was told eating meat causes this due to the protein. I told her that was not true and she needed to listen to this video. I just sent it to her husband for her to listen to. People believe what they hear and don’t do their own research. I’m so happy you, Dr. Berry and other doctors are putting this information out there. Thank you.

Oh my gosh, I was one of those people who thought ketosis and ketoacidosis were related. Thankyou so much for the clarification. As a type 2 diabetic, I am going to try the keto diet!

I went to the pharmacy to ask if they have a dual glucometer that also measures blood ketones. The first question was obviously why I wanted it, so I explained. The pharmacist was shocked and horrified that anybody would be putting themselves in ketosis voluntarily, and asked me if it is safe to do so, saying she thought it was very scary. Sigh. Thanks for this video, now I can explain it better next time. :)

I told my wife about starting Keto, and she brought it up to a veterinarian who works at her office. My wife called me and had the vet talk to me. She proceeded to tell me how Keto lifestyle could mess with the brain, Ketoacidosis, etc. I wish I had seen this video so I could forward it to her at the time. Love your videos Doc! I'm from NC. You sound like my people!

My mom is type 1, and she constantly tells me by doing the keto diet I’m gonna end up in keto acidosis. This diet has drastically jump started my metabolism! I’m losing 1-2 lbs a day! I’m not stopping this diet anytime soon.

"Keytones don't cause ketoacidosis." "Acidic blood is the danger of ketoacidosis." "Ketoacidosis shows up in type one diabetics, victims of tramua, people with infection." "Nutritional Keytosis is not Ketoacidosis." "Every one named Jeffrey is not a serial killer." Got it. Thank you.

Great Video Doc! My Dad explained ketoacidosis to me when I was a youngster. We never really discussed ketosis back in those days(late 1950's) but in the early 1960's was when he adopted a ketogenic diet. He didn't call it that but it was a very high fat moderate protein low carb diet. I do 1 meal and 1 small "snack" per day. Each meal/snack are separated by 12 hours. I feel pretty healthy except for the accumulation of mechanical damage over my 69 years.

Thank you so much for this information. I finally had reached Nutritional Ketosis of 8.0 but then started reading negative comments about Ketosis that could lead to Ketoacidosis and I immediately stopped Keto because I thought it was unsafe 😔

I'm a Type one Diabetic, and I've been told for over a decade that the Keto diet would be dangerous for me. I am so happy I stumbled across this video, because I was about to write a whole report for my sports nutrition class about how Ketogenic diets can lead to Keto-acidosis in Type One Diabetics. Thank you for the info!! I definitely need to change the direction of my presentation topic now hahaha

I’m one of the folks that’s pretty regularly testing high in ketones. Initially I was worried, since conventional medical literature and my nursing training told me that I was going to be seriously ill. All of my other tests and lab work revealed pretty good values, which had my physicians “confused.” Not until I saw an old family physician (purely by coincidence, while accompanying my grandmother... who’s over 100 and as they say “healthy as a horse”) did I finally talk to someone who understood. (He also did a battery of tests, to be sure.) His “diagnosis”: I’m totally fine. My family has always eaten healthy... and my body was “programmed “ early in my life, to be a ketone producer and fat burner.
